107. The Land of Joseph
'Hail to the Land in the Shape of Wings'

Minister F. E. Pitts of Nashville, Tennessee, in an address to the Congress of the United States in 1857, declared:

Among those scriptures which speak of this land, perhaps Isaiah 18 stands as one of the more significant offerings. When reading through the verses one ought to consider that that land, which was that of Adam, the Jaredites and the Nephites, had had its share of destructions in the course of recorded scriptural accounts. Even those finally brought to the Americas were considered a 'trodden down people'. As the Statue of Liberty plaque states: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door." - Emma Lazarus. And Paul Auster wrote, "... The New Colossus [the Statue of Liberty] ... purpose, turning Liberty into a welcoming mother, a symbol of hope to the outcast and downtrodden of the world."

ISAIAH CHAPTER 18

The Lord shall raise the gospel ensign, send messengers to his scattered people, and gather them to mount Zion.

1 WOE [HAIL] to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:
2 That sendeth mbassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!
3 All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye.
4 For so the LORD said unto me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.
5 For afore the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and take away and cut down the branches.
6 They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.
7 ¶ In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.

Borne on Eagles Wings

It is of some interest that Joseph himself did not have a land assigned unto him as one of the son's of Jacob in the promised land of Israel. Of course one says both of his sons had land granted to them and this was Joseph's share, right? Still it is a fact that Joseph and Levi were the only two sons of Jacob who do not have their names laid upon any of the promised land inheritances of Israel. But Levi did have 'cities' within the lands of the tribes of Israel given unto them, so in a way they did have inheritances given unto them. So ... if one carries it further, Joseph is the only son of Jacob who does not have a land assigned unto him in the promised land of Israel. But as we know and have learned from the Book of Mormon, Joseph does have a promised land given unto him, his seed and his remnant. And that is the land of America.

When Adam did gather his posterity in the land Adam-ondi-ahman, Adam stood up though bowed down with age, and foretold all whatsoever should befall his posterity unto the last generation (D&C 107:56). To the prophet leader Mahonri Moriancumer, the Vision of All was also given from the beginning to the end of all things. Before Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Israel, it was known concerning the destiny of the land of America, the land of Adam, the land which was choice above all other lands. And as the prophet Ether knew and wrote accoring to that which Moroni records, even the name of Joseph of Egypt was known and that these Americas would be the Land of Joseph preserved unto the remnant of Joseph.

God knows all things from the beginning to the end it their details. All before him is one eternal now. And he hath revealed then foreknowledge to his holy prophets even from the beginning, beginning with Adam. Thus it was known and foretold by Ether from the vision of the brother of Jared, that this land which the Jaredites did posses, would become that land of that Joseph which would one day come upon the earth as the rightful heir of the covenant promises of God, 'unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills' (Genesis 49:26) of the land choice above all other lands, even this Amercia, the land of Adam from the beginning.

Joseph's Covenant Land of Mulek

Now it is taught by the Book of Mormon and by the latter-day prophets, that the Americas are the Land of Joseph, both North and South America. (Teaching of Wilford Woodruff). And the Book of Mormon further states that Lehi was brought unto the land south and the Mulek was brought unto the land north. And thus the Book of Mormon prophetically names the two lands of the Americas, the Land of Lehi, being the land of South America, and the Land of Mulek being North America. Now to what end was the northern land of the Americas called by the name of Mulek, the son and heir of King Zedekiah of the house of David? Or in other words, 'What does the House of David have to do with the Land of Joseph that the Lord would place the name of Mulek upon the whole of North America of the Land of Joseph?

Now it will come to be seen that the Lord did place the name of Mulek upon the Land North, not merely because Mulek first landed there. But is was the Royal name of the Covenant house of David, which was in fact the Covenant House of Joseph, of the family of the Firstborn of Israel, of the covenant line of Ephraim unto the fulfilling of the blessings of Abraham in and through Israel, meaning Ephraim in the restoration of the latter-days upon the covenant land of Joseph, North American and thence to all of America, the whole of the Covenant Land of the Americas, the Land of Joseph.

And just as Obed was the surrogate son of Boaz rasied up to the house of Mahlon and Elimelech, Ephraimites of the covenant linage of Ephraim through Joshua, so it is that all of the covenant sons of Ephraim of the latter-days will be grafted in unto the true tree of the Land of Joseph to the end that the Gospel will be and has been restored through Ephraim that land of Covenant Ephraim which was named after one of the covenant lineage of Ephraim, the house of David, even Mulek.

Now therefore, Lehi was of Manasseh (Alma 10:3), and thus it was that the name of the Manasseh was placed upon South America in the name of Lehi. And now also, what had been hidden and now revealed or now predicted, is that Mulek was legally and rightfully of the seed of the covenant, the seed of the Firstborn in Israel (Jeremiah 31:9), being of the House of David. And David being the son of Jesse that Ephrathite who was the son of Obed which was the surrogate son of Boaz, the firstborn Ruth raised up as the seed unto the death, the house of Mahlon and Elimelech, Ephraimites of the covenant through Joshua from Ephraim as bestowed by the hand of Jacob. And thus the is it the name of the 'Covenant Seed' of Ephraim which was placed upon North America to the end of foreshadowing that which was to come upon the land. And that is and was the restoration of the Gospel of Christ to th end of the fulfilment of the Covenant of the Fathers, from Adam, Enoch and Noah, even down to Abraham, being that Covenant of Abraham which is unto the blessing of the nations of the earth with the salvation of God, that all might become sons and daughters of the covenant, even the children of Israel from times past unto Adam, the Jaredites and the Gentiles of the world whenever they have or will live, to the times of the fulness of times when all the promises will be fulfilled unto the redemption of man through the covenants, ordinances, and laws of God performed vicariously for all who ever have lived under the leadership and provision of the Firstborn, even the Firstborn of Israel, Ephraim.

Joseph's Land Is Zion

That Zion will be upon this, Joseph's land; and that Jesus Christ will be its King, has forever been fact of the matter. This is the promised land, the land of Adam, the land choice above all other lands, even that land of which the 'nations of the world', which are considered as the 'heathen nations' of the Gentiles will be gathered to and become the House of Israel, which is also the House of Joseph in and through Ephraim and Manasseh. Consider the promise of the restoration and to whom it is brought forth and from whom it will go forth.

    D&C 90:10 " ... the nations, the heathen nations, the house of Joseph ... " ~ There is an interesting parallel being presented here. This is not an 'and' listing of items, but a comparative synonomous listing of names. The 'nations', the 'heathen nations' is the 'house of Joseph'. That is as far as Joseph is Israel in that the northern kingdom of Israel was scatter and sifted amoung the nations of the world; so it is that they are in turn synonomous with the 'house of Joseph'. Further consider that when Jesus Christ returns he will sit at the head of this kingdom, that is the kingdom of Israel, which is the kingdom of the house of Joseph built here upon the American Continent (Article of Faith #10). Now just how is it that a 'Jew' will sit at the head of the House of Joseph? Or will he? There is the matter of Messiah ben Joseph being the same as Messiah ben David and the fact that Jesus is legally and rightfully the seed and heir of Joseph as presented in this text 'Messiah ben David ~ Messiah ben Joseph'.

The King of Joseph's Land

Consider that the Zion of the Promised Land of Joseph is America and it is so recorded in the Joseph Smith Inspired Translation that the Lord did personal state the fore going. The Messiah was born as son and heir of the house of Elimelech and Mahlon, Ephrathites of the House of Joseph of Egypt with maternally related Boaz acting as surrogate who was raising up 'seed' to the dead. Obed was that seed, stated as 'Son of Naomi', the living wife of the house of Elimelech. Obed's son was Jesse, that Ephrathite of Bethlehem whose son was David. Given that line of David's linage, he was of the House of Joseph, its heir, though of the blood of Judah via Boaz. The American Zion was the given promised land to the 'remnant of Joseph', and that land was the ancient land of Adam who lived where the 'Center Stake' of that American Zion is located, at Adam-ondi Ahman in the center of North America in Missouri. This information is stated by the Book of Mormon and in the Doctrine and Covenants and according to LDS Church History. Jesus further states that he is 'King of Zion'. What is more natural that the King of the American Zion, that land of Joseph would indeed be that blessed descendant of the House of Joseph, even Messiah ben Joseph?

The envy and the vexing between Joseph and Judah did work both ways. Judah, after the Northern Kingdom of Ephraim was destroyed and scattered, did claim that they had prevailed over his brethren. And though Judah was also destroyed and scattered, they did return. But even after the scattering of Israel - Ephraim - the Northern Kingdom, the prophet Jeremiah still proclaimed that the Lord still said, 'I Am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn' (Jeremiah 31:9). Even the record of the Chronicles, assembled during or after the Babylonia captivity, still openly admitted that Reuben, Leah's firstborn son of Israel, had lost the birthright because of his wickedness and that the 'Covenant Birthright' was given unto the sons of Joseph, Ephraim being placed in the greater position (Genesis 48 & 1 Chronicles 5:1-2). There is no argument about it. Yet David being of the bloodline of Boaz, the Jews in the record usurped the Law of God (Deut. 25:5-10) and claimed that the 'Genealogy' ought not to be reckoned after the birthright. Whose genealogy? That would have to be David's genealogy. Thus in their own very words the confirm that the 'birthright' sons of Joseph had claim as the ancestors of the House of David. And when the Jews taunted Jesus about being a Samaritan, they did 'say well' on that point though the said it to defame him by it. So even the scriptural support is there to prove it including what is said in the Old Testament itself. Jesus was of the House of Joseph and David, who at the time was a gross sinner, haveing committed adultery with Bathsheba and having arranged and planned the death or murder of her husband, chose poorly as Joab pointed out when entrenched in sin David chose Judah over Israel almost in an act of defiance of God. It was Judah who had rebelled and attempted to overthrow King David and install his son. It was Israel/Ephraim, the Northern Kingdom who had fought in support of David and won the day over Judah, thus preserving David. David had prayed for deliverance, the Lord had delivered him through the Kingdom of Israel/Ephraim, but thankless David for his delivery did what even Joab saw as unspeakable. David turned around and chose Judah over Israel, over Ephraim, who was the legal and rightful ancestor in the Lord of David. The ramafications here are so dynamic that one must ask why did David turn from the Lord in this way? David's son's right to being parent of the Messiah rested in David being the heir of Ephraim who was Israel. But David was likely sore over having lost his first son by Bathsheba. But according to the Law of God, that first son of Bathsheba by David would have been Bathsheba's murdered husband's child both in months counting barring David's adultry which meant that he was of the blood of David and by the very Law of the Lord that said the first born son of a brother's wife who had died when taken by a 'brother' was considered to be he who was being raised up unto the dead. The only whay under the Law of the Lord that the heir son of David would preserved the proper heir-ship line, was if he were one of Davids 'own' later sons then the first son of Bathsheba who had died. David was still 'talking a good talk before the Lord' but his actions were telling a much different story, David was no longer walking a good walk. He no longer was walking in the ways of the Lord. And the 'true' Messiah was Messiah ben Ephraim NOT Messiah ben Boaz which the Jews by their usurption would tell you that the Messiah yet to come should be a Jew. So Jesus was Messiah ben Joseph, and he was Messiah ben David under that consideration that David was the son of Naomi and Elimelech, heir of the Ephraimite line of Nun and Jehoshua via Elimelech and David himself was of the House of Joseph and not of the House of Judah regardless of his 'choice' of the Jews over Israel/Ephraim. And this was the envying and the vexing issues that were going on between Judah and Ephraim. And from the perspective of the Jews they would blame Ephraim and from Ephraim's perspective he would blame Judah. And the real issues all started back when Judah thought he would be the heir of Israel but wasn't. And Judah saw that Jacob/Israel favored his son Joseph and further chose and blessed Ephraim in the stead of Reuben. And that even started further back between Leah and Rachel when Labam trick Jacob into marrying Leah first over Rachel, Jacob's true choice way back then.
