In the Book of Mormon, there is enough information to determine that there was two major divisions of the lands that made up 'America', that that land which would become 'Promised Land of Joseph'. This is not speaking of just the lands of Nephi and Zarahemla, but it speaks of a greater division of the lands which were divided by a 'narrow neck of land'. One of the earliest people brought to America by the hand of the Lord after the flood of Noah were the Jaredites. They were brought to 'America' at the time of the Tower of Babel. And they lived in the land until about 600 BC when that nation self destructed in a civil war of anihilation. The lived on what they referred to the land north of the narrow neck of land and they kept and maintained the land south of the narrow neck as a 'preserve'. That is they would not establish cities in that land but rather left it in a natural state and only used the land for the uses of extracting the natural resources of nature from that land. Today we would call it a land of conservation left it it natural state. They would hunt and fish and such in the land but they would not permanently live in that land.

When the Lord brought the party of Lehi from the land of Jerusalem to American, leaving Jerusalem initially about 600 BC and arriving in American some 16 to 20 years later, the Lord guided them to the land southwasrd which Lehi's party found to be a forested land with various animals of every kind which had been preserved in the land. And they found little to no evidences of any type of privious extensive civilizations in that land. They were brought to the land that the Jaredites had left in the state of a natural preserve. And at one time the people of Lehi which developed into the Nephites and Lamanites, did come to identify the two main land divisions as the land of Lehi which was south of the narrow neck of land and the land of Desolation, which was initially all of the land north of the narrow neck of land. The called it 'Desolation' because they found there only the human remains of a great battle of destruction and a land that had basically been wasted in what could be termed a 'scortched earth' manner of the conflicting forces that had fought and died there. And they considered and later had confirming knowledge that this land held a 'great curse upon it' which had led to those people's destruction. That 'curse' would be found to be that God would not allow a wicked people to remain living on the land and when they had 'rippened unto destruction' in their degree of wickedness, the Lord would allow them to destroy themselves and/or have destroyed them himself.

In fact from what we know today, Adam lived on this land north and of course the flood of Noah had come and destroyed all the people but Noah and his family. After the days of Peleg, when the land was divided, the Lord had brought back to that northern land occupied by Adam and when that nation called the Jaredites had rippened in their degree of wickedness unto destruction, the Lord allowed a civil war of that nation to cause a total destruction of them. Later, when the Nephites had rippened unto destruction, the Nephites had come to once again move into the land northward of the narrow neck and the Lord allowed the Lamanites to completely destroy the Nephite nation on that 'northern land' once again. Thus all in all there was great cause for this northern land to be considered to be a land with a great curse upon it. That curse is not much different from such as held in the traditions of the Hawaiians of the Hawaiian Islands, where they maintain that their land is preserved by righteousness. Or in otherwards wickedness would cause the land not to be preserved but destroyed. That was the same 'curse' upon the land northward, the Lord would only allow a righteous people to remain to live on the land and when they would 'rippen unto destruction' due to their degree of wickedness, they would be wiped from off of the face of the land.

" ... Now Lachoneus did cause that they should gather themselves together in the land southward, because of the great curse which was upon the land northward." ~ 3 Nephi 3:24

Now why is there a prophetic preference in terms of 'the great curse upon the land' of that of North America as compared to South America? Both are the land of Joseph and both are prophetically declared as the land of liberty and of promise in the Book of Mormon. Then why the destinction made by Lechoneus?

"And it came to pass that when he had poured out his soul to God, he [Moroni] named all the land which was south of the land of Desolation, yea, and in fine, all the land, both on the north and on the south—A choice land, and the land of liberty." ~ Alma 46:17

Now all of the Americas, North, South and Central, is a land of liberty and the promised land of Joseph as pronounced by a proper understanding of the words and meaning of the Book of Mormon and as confirmed and taught by the General Authorities of the Church. And this dispite such limited geographic models which tend to diminish such considerations. Thus here is an interesting distinction a 'Prophet Leader' of the Nephites does make, that the land northward, implying North America, does have a 'greater curse' upon it than the land south of the narrow neck of land. This is historical to the Book of Mormon, for the land north was the land of the Jaredites who were utterly destoryed and had earned the land north of the narrow neck the name of Desolation. But is there not more? The land to which Lehi was brought was the land south. The land which Mulek was brought to was the land north (Helaman 6:10), though Mulek's party traveled south into the land of Zarahemla. Mulek, not denoted by most, was also of the seed of Joseph. Where Lehi was of Manasseh, Mulek was actually of the promised seed of the covenant, having descended legally and rightfully according to the Law of God and the covenant from Ephraim. Joseph Smith and a number of early restored church leaders, like unto Mulek, were descendants of Joseph as well as also from Jesse (D&C 113:5-6). And thus the prophet Brigham Young states of Joseph Smith that he was a pure Ephraimite. Thus it might be concluded that the general land of Joseph has two sub-lands of Ephraim and of Manasseh, and though they are not so divided as to populous, they seem to be divided as to blessings and greater cursings. Also consider that the land north, North America is the centeral land which Adam dwelt in, and from which the people of Adam were swept off of during the flood of Noah. Also both the Jaredites and the Nephites met their 'waterloos' upon the land north. Lands of greater cursings also have greater blessings. The land north is the land of the restoration and the land of the New Jerusalem. Perhaps it was not just the effects of the historical bones of the Jaredites which did seem to make the land north so much more cursed. Perhaps the land north is more cursed and more blessed as to the things of God and the prophet Lechoneus knew well of which he spoke.

Today in America we are solidly entering in upon that time when people are rippening again unto destruction. But there will be a marked distinction among the people, there will be a majority of the people who have surcumbed unto wickedness. Now this need not be, but in all the scriptural predictions it does seem that the Lord knows that it will be the case tha wickedness will be rampant upon the whole of the earth once again just prior to his Second Coming. And at that time we are given to understand that rather than a flood like in the time of Noah or like self destructions like the Jaredites and Nephites, there will be an actual destruction carried out by the hand of the Lord which will be as the burning of the wicked as like unto stubble. The wicked will burn and their sins will be broadcast from the 'housetops'. Would you even think that they wicked would be so wicked as to basically declare their own wickedness themselves? Consider the differences between traditional Christain righteous standards of living and look at the difference of the life styles people are living and even publically promoting across the liberal based media broadcast channels of today that uses the 'airways', satilite dishes, antenas and such today. And they publically petition and make laws that support their wickedness such as legalized abortion of 'babies', openly declared sexual degenerations, legalized drug usages and all sorts of promotes and laws that fight against the Commandments of God even to the point of not allowing God in public places and the persecution of people of faith and Christian moral based religion. And then consider if we are not on that brink of the promised destruction of the 'burning of the wicked' at the coming of Jesus Christ? There are seemingly weekly riots in the streets against 'Law Enforcement'. There are murders being committed every day, even mass murders, terrorist murders and acts of outrageous wickedness. Name a commandment of God and it is being vastly broken in the world of today. And it is getting worse daily and is even being practiced by our own political leaders who are more concerned of doing what meets their personal wants and desires rather than to do what is right for America and Americans. They lie, cheat and steal. They are the one who are in the forefront of changing the laws to legalize all the wickedness being carried out against God and God's people. So much is going on in the world today, you cannot keep up with all the reports of the wickedness being committed legally and illegally around the world and in America today. The Day of the Lord Is at Hand!

And just when the world will see that reckoning of the Lord come upon the earth is near. Certainly the promised land of America is ripening unto destruction being led by its amoral liberal government into the ways of sin and discarding of their religiouos heritage and being committed to the worship of Jesus Christ our God and King. Only while the land does continue to live according to the commandments of God and worship He whose land and nation this is, that being Jesus Christ, will thie nation endure. The Democrat leadership has forsaken God in their platform lack of recognition of him and the legalization of sins that are against the commandments of God are tearing this nation down and apart as divisiveness and special sinful interests of abortion murders, sexual adultrous sins, illegal governmental thieft, legalization of immoral drugs and any number of other sins against God's commandments, including the great commandment of having no other gods before him are the flavors of the activism being followed in America today. How long will the Lord God Jesus Christ allow such to continue unchecked? Not long and there is no such 'fire insurance' that covers that which is at hand.
