119. They Are One in Me
"Father, I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou
hast given me out of the world, because of their faith, that they may be
purified in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may
be one, that I may be glorified in them." ~ 3 Nephi 19:29
It has been of some discussion just how and in what Jesus Christ and those
who are his people are 'one' even as the Father and the Son are one. To this
end it might be addressed as concerning who are so connected by the
everlasting covenant between heaven and earth.
Now the Lord hath said concerning himself
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, that my people shall know my
name; yea, in that day they shall know that I am he that doth speak. And then
shall they say: How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that
bringeth good tidings unto them, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good
tidings unto them of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion:
Thy God reigneth!" ~ 3 Nephi 20:39-40
Now Abinadi hath said concerning all those who do minister in the name of
the Lord
Now the Lord hath said concerning his servants
" . . . whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my
servants, it is the same." ~ D&C 1:38
Now in relationship to that which is stated in Isaiah 11 and in D&C 113
concerning those of the 'rod', 'stem' and 'root' of Jesse, it does but
speak unto the topic of Jesus Christ and his servants, that it is the same
ministration, and all are of the same seed and of the same ministration in
one. (etc.) Which brings us back to the concept that Christ and his people
are of the promised covenant seed, even that which was preserved and did
remain in and through Joseph (D&C 27:10).
