Item 149
Adoption, Vicarious and Surrogate Performances
In God's Eternal Plan
"The Father has a body of flesh and bones
as tangible as man's; the Son also; but the
Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy
Ghost could not dwell in us.
"A man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him and not tarry with him."
~ Doctrine and Covenants | Section 130:22-23
God the Father of Spirits, Our Father Who Art in Heaven,
is our Most High Celestial God; He it is that dwells in His Celestial Heavens. Jesus/Jehovah in his
mortal ministry has taught us that we are to pray unto our Father God, our Celestial Father, that Man
of Holiness, for He is our Supreme God. We are further commanded that we are to pray to Our Father
in Heaven in the name of the Son, Jesus Christ. They are two separate and distinct beings.
God the Father, Who dwells in Heaven (3 Nephi 13:9-13; Matthew 6:9-13), is a Glorified Celestial
being of glorified flesh and bones of such exceeding degree of glory that mortal man in and of himself
cannot stand in his immediate presence and live. Joseph Smith, who has seen the Celestial Father and
the resurrection glorified Lord Jesus Christ/Jehovah in
vision
was enabled to withstand the glory
of that vision. Either by the nature of the 'visionary experience,' that it was not an
immediate presensce of the Father and Son, or that the Holy Ghost did rest upon and protect the young
man, Joseph Smith, that he could withstand the subsequence glory of that vision of the Celestial beings
of Glory. Jesus as the Spirit God Jehovah of the Old Testament, by the power of the priesthood
endowment received from the Father, was able to create worlds and their heavens without number by the
power of his WORD under the direction of God the Father of Spirits.
Joseph Smith is not the only one who has seen and witnessed the glory of the Father and Son in vision.
Stephen, the desciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, did have a similar visionary experience when he bore
witness in his meeting before the Jews before in their anger they took out and stoned him to death
(Acts 7:55-56). At this witness of Stephen before them of the Father and the Son, in their fierce
anger the Jews did rush upon Stephen and did bodily and forcifully take him out of their midst and
carry him out of the city, and there they did stone him to death for so witnessing that there was both
God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son. This for the Jews has crucified Jesus for that very same claim
of himself being the very Son of God the Father.
There is a misunderstanding taught by the faithless that concludes that 'no one has seen God.' They
take their false statement out of its true context and apply it in a manner to shut up the heavens
before man, that man must then rely solely upon them who are indeed godless and faithless themselves.
The simple truth is that no one has seen and witnessed the Father 'except' he unto
whom the Son chooses to reveal him to (Matthew 11:27. This reason being that the Father has set the
Son, Jehovah who is Jesus, to stand in the stead of the Father in all things. And it is only in and
through the Son that man does come unto to know the Father. "I am the way, and the trut, and the life.
No man comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6)."
Others also have seen the glory of the Son either sitting or standing upon the right hand of
the Father in glory (Mark 16:19;.
Jesus Christ, who as Jehovah did minister and administer by the power and in the name of the Father as
the Spirit God of the Old Testament, is not a glorified resurrecting immortal being of flesh and bone
also, and has been raised by the power of the Father to sit in glory upon his throne at the right
hand of God the Father, whose sacred name is Elohim or Man of Holiness.
