93. Why 'Hide' the Messiah in Two?
First considered is the straight foreward question of 'Why Would God Hide
the Messiah in Two?' To this consideration there are two perspectives of its
own. The first is the 'false' perspective that God did and would have 'hiden'
the Messiah intentional from a 'righteous Israel'. And the second perspective
is that only through the spirit can man understand the things of God, as
simple as they may be.
When revealed by the Spirit to the mind and soul of man, the 'mysteries' of
God become but simple to understand concepts of reason. God did not hide the
knowledge of the dual ancestry of the Messiah from man. Man by their own
disbelief and wickedness hide him in a two Messiah theory themselves. As
stated by Raphael Patai in his text 'The Messiah Texts':
"Messiah ben Joseph, also called Messiah ben Ephraim, referring
to his ancester Ephraim, the son of Joseph, is
imagined as the commander of the army of
Israel in the Messianic wars. ...
" Scholars have repeatedly speculated about the origin of the
Messiah ben Joseph legend and the curious
fact that the Messiah figure has been
split in two. ...
" When the death of the Messiah became an established tenet
in Talmudic times, this was felt to be irreconcilable with the belief in the
Messiah as the Redeemer who would usher in the blissful millennium of the
Messianic age. The dilemma was solved by splitting
the person of the Messiah in two: ...
" This spliting of the Messiah in two persons,
which took place in the Talmudic period,
achieved another purpose besides resolving the dilemma of the slain Messiah.
... " ~ 'The Messiah Texts', by Raphael Patai
In short, the concept of there being 'two Messiahs' was 'imagined up' and
contrived, not out of scriptural fact, but out of the Talmudic times felt
necessity of so spliting of the Messiah into two figures. This was done
not only to solve the matter of the death of the Messiah but to remove Jesus
Christ from so being considered the Messiah. And while there seemed to be
grounds to believe that such a concept of two Messiahs did precede the
Talmudic times following the death of Christ, it was not established as a
'true tenent of Judiaism' until the Talmudic period, some 100 to 200 years
after the death of Christ.
As has been shown by the witness of Philip to Andrew, the Messiah had been
known to be prophesied of old by the prophets, even Moses to be the 'Son of
Joseph'. Not just the future Joseph to those prophets, the carpenter, but
that very Joseph of Egypt, the son of Jacob. Now lost in scripture and only
retained in traditions such as Rachel's prophecy that the Messiah would come
of her descent and Joseph's other non-scriptural dream which also states it,
scripturally it has now been religated to but shadowings of it.
Besides the statement of Philip, these shadowings are found in the fact that
it the 'true mother of all of Isreal', Racheal who weeps at the scattering of
the tribes of Israel, even that of the tribe of the Royal House of David,
Judah as recorded by Jeremiah. And further it is Rachel, not Leah, who also
weeps according to the words of Matthew, when the infants are murdered by
Herod from Bethlehem to the very regions of Ephraim to insure a destrution
of the promised Messiah.
Even the Pharisees did reveal themselves to understand during the time of
Jesus that the Messiah was truely of such dual linage as they in a degrading
manner challeged Jesus to disclose the truth that He was according to then
known scriptural doctrine to be even as a 'Samaritan', being of that
Ephraimite House of David as recorded by John. Christ never does deny the
fact of his being a 'Samaritan', only that the Pharisees did dishonor Him
by so stating it in a slanderous manner which included stating that he was
of the devil and not of God.
So now, just what has 'hide' the truth from man? Is it God? NO! Man hides
such truth from himself as he removes himself from the truth as revealed by
the Spirit of Truth. Man, when he 'images' and 'contrives' the matters of
fact into what covers and hides the sins of man before man, not from before
God. but from the true understanding thus reconciling themselves into
falsehood and lies. It is man and man's disbelief which has 'hiden' the once
known and revealed truth that the Messiah was to be of both Houses of Israel.
Fromt he House of Judah by blood. But from the House of Ephraim by right and
by the law, even the very Law of God.
It is the very Jewish perspective in the writing, editing and compiling the
Bible into its reduced and transformed state which has hide the true and
rightful descent of the House of David and therefore the descent of the
Messiah in that surrogate line of blood through Boaz. It was not Boaz's
own intent, but rather Boaz set forth well before the elders and Almoni Ploni
that it was the intent to raise up seed to the dead that Ruth was to be taken
to wife and the inheritances of the house of Elimelech and Mahlon were to be
preserved upon the head of Obed, the first born son of such a surrogate
marriage as defined in the law of Moses (Deuteronomy 25:5-10 & Ruth 4:5, 10).
It is only the extent of the latter Jewish perpectives of compilation which
'hide' the true descent under the law that the House of Obed, Jesse and
David is that of Elimelech and Mahlon and not that of the House of Boaz.
It has been shown that Judah was always enveous of Joseph having recieved the
birthright rather than it falling to Judah as Judah most likely thought it
ought to have. Judah was fine in seeing that Rueben who had defiled his
father's bed was not worthy of the birthright of the firstborn. And he could
clearly see and atest that neither Simeon or Levi were worthy for the 'murders'
they inflected due to the 'honour' of thier sister, and the resulting shame
that action had cast upon the house of Israel. But when Jacob showed forth
that the 'rainbow covenant' of the firstborn was to be the right of Joseph,
the first born of Jacob's first chosen wife Rachel, Judah felt spurned and
his feeling was as strong as any of his brethren if not the very leader in
the cause that, 'We will not have our younger brother to rule over us!' This
was the very feelings of Laman and Lemuel in respect to Nephi even though an
angel did declare that such was the case that Nephi had been chosen to be
the ruler and heir of his father Lehi.
A history played out, the very Jewish perpective found its way to the top,
that Judah would prevail upon all of his brethern. And even though the compiler
of Chornicles got it right in one perspective, that is that the birthright was
Joseph given through him unto Ephraim and Manasseh, because that Reuben was
not worthy of it (1 Chronicles 5:1-2). The compiler of Chronicles also got it
wrong. Even though the kingdom of Israel, that is the kingdom of Israel, was
first to be taken and scattering into the world, Judah also would be so
scattered. And just because Judah was scattered after Israel is no good reason
to usurp to the position and statement that 'Judah prevailed over his brethren'
and thus imply that upon Judah rested the blessings of the Father's from Adam
to Abraham, Issac, Jacob and thence to Judah, for the Lord himself did not
state it that way. For even in the day of Judah's dispursment did the prophet
of that day, Jeremiah, state the truth of the matter as he reported in his
record concerning the time and day of the return of Israel, that they would
not be forever lost:
"For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount
Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.
For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the
chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people,
the remnant of Israel. Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and
gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame,
the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great
company shall return thither. They shall come with weeping, and with
supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of
waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father
to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn."
~ Jermiah 31:6-9
But for the sake of Judah and the time of the Lord first to be among the Jews
was the Lord so hid, the He was hid from them as being the Son of Ephraim,
that they might consider of him that he was to come of them that the scripture
might be fulfilled in which is stated, 'that he came unto his own and rejected
by them', and that they might first consider that the Messiah would come of
the Jews though even those with great knowledge knew and acknowledged that he
was considered of them but as a Samaritan, that he of the house of David was
an Ephraimite mix and snub by the high learned rulers of the Jews as such.
Now another consideration of the 'hiding of the Messiah' has been stated my
a number of Biblical scholars in that Jesus would at times be reluctent to
openly declare that He was the Messiah. And in truth at times he was guarded
in this respect, but indeed at other times he was not, but openly declare just
who he was, that is the Son of God. Why he would be reluctant in some cases
might have rested in the circumstance of the instance. One good reason for
not standing openly and declaring one's self to be the Messiah is that one
was not to so testify of himself of such matters, but rather it was to be the
testimony of others that would be considered that Jesus was the Messiah. But
among his friends and those who had already accepted him, he openly would tell
them that he was the Lord. And there are a number of such scripture references
in which it may be pointed out that he did, and that is at the very least he
did strongly confirm the truth of the testimony they had gained of him from
the Spirit, that it was true, that he was the Son of God.
And even upon the mount of transfiguration, did the Father's voice so state
that Jesus was indeed His very Son of God. But in very truth, though even the
voice of God or that of angels were to declare that truth unto a person, yet
not until the witness of the Spirit does confirm that fact of the matter soul
to soul as only the Holy Ghost can, still there may be a doubt in the heart
of man that might be influenced by the senses of men. And minds might be
changed upon the matter. But one who has received the testimony by the Spirit,
has the stronger testimony of Christ. Yet consider Peter who in a manner denied
the Messiah thrice in one night alone. And though I or anyone else declare
unto you the he was both Messiah ben Judah and Messiah ben Ephraim/Joseph,
until you recieve the sure witness of the Spirit you may think so or not, but
when the Holy Ghost writes it upon your soul, spirit to spirit, will you come
to know and understand for sure.
So consider that Jesus also so left it unto the workings of the Spirit to so
testify unto the people as to just whom it was that he was. For the strongest
conviction that one can receive of the truth is through that Spirit of Truth
that enlightens the minds of all men. And there is much which has been and still
is hiden from the general populous concerning this Christ, Jesus even the
Messiah, from he and his doctrine has largely been hiden and has been a
mystery from the foundation of the world. How was it and how is it to be that
he is and would be forever the very means and way whereby men might come
together in him unto God? Just how is it to be that all nations, every kindred,
tongue and people who ever has or ever will be living upon this earth heirs
of the kingdom of God according to their own minds, wills and compliance to
the righteousness of God?
The Mystery and the Hiding of Christ in God
For there was a Plan of God given before the foundation of the world whereby
all men might be saved. And that Plan was in the Doctrine and Mystery of
Christ. And it was in respect to God, his commandments and his ordinances as
were to be performed and sealed upon man unto immortality and eternal life
through Jesus Christ the Lord and worked upon one's fellow man by and in those
so empowered by God who were his brethren. Today that power and authority
unto the salvation of the world rest in Christ as bestowed in and upon his
church which church is but those Heirs in, with and of Christ as of the
firstborn of Israel who is Ephraim and thus it is that in and through Ephraim,
all of Israel and his companions is and will be that gospel taken to and
provided unto all the earth and ministered unto them who have, do now or will
live upon this earth until the end thereof. And great will be that Millennial
Day when the bulk of this work will be done, that very work which those of
Ephraim, all of Israel and his companions have and are providing the foundation
thereof today.
And as it is in and through the covenant blessings of the firstborn in and
through Ephraim from Jacob via Joseph and from the fathers even unto God and
the promises so made man from before the foundation of the world; even so it
doeth worketh in and through that everlasting covenant in and through Ephraim,
Jesus Christ being that Great Ephraimite, even Messiah ben Ephraim, by who the
work is justified and had becometh to fulfill all righteousness according to
the laws of both heaven and earth and the priesthood and connections thereof
unto the salvation of men.
Yes the very being and nature of our Lord and God had been hidden in the
shadow of the hand of God, and there has those who are of Israel unto its
fulfillment been hid also. Being scattered in all the earth to be drawn upon
to return back therefrom to so proceed according to the command, will and
direction of our Lord and King. And this that the earth will be filled with
the children of God unto the fulfilment of the purposes of God according to
the promises of Malaichi, wherein the ordiances of salvation may be ministered
unto every person of every nation of every kindred of every person who has
been, are now or will be here upon the face of this earth according to the
mind, fill and workings of God through his Christ unto the salvation of man,
that is unto the bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man
according to the Great Plan of Happiness of our Lord and King, who is our
Ministering God and Redeemer according to the apointment, annointing,
consecration, ordinantion and empowerment of the Father and according to the
direction of the Father pertaining to that very Plan of Exaltation of God.
And this is the hidden mystery wherein Christ has been hid, He and the gospel
plan from age to age until this the dispensation of the fulness of times and
on into the work and glory of the Great Millennial Day of the Lord Jesus
Christ. And as was first fully established by Christ's apostles in his day,
so it is now fully restored in our day. Paul the apostle spoke about it. And
the early Christian Church first installed in that day when the Lord God
and Messiah Jesus did meet the requirements of the atonement. And now restored
to the heir of the covenant, unto Ephraim, all of Israel and his companions;
which is unto the ends of the earth, Jew and Gentile alike.
