96. A Matter of Blood
Judah's blood of corruption he bore, t'was Judah's blood which the Savior
shed. He removed from himself that corruption, the corrupt blood of Judah,
and thus he was raised in incorruption, no longer being of the blood of Judah
but to be of the promised descend of the house of Joseph. Thus for this
reason, not fully understood, Jesus was to bear the blood of corruption of
the tribe of Judah. But because Jesus was not legally of the tribe of Judah
but was of the tribe of Joseph, Jesus by right could shed the corrupt blood
of Judah and still rightfully lead the way to redemption as the rightful heir
of the covenant house of Joseph, having shed from himself that thing which
he really was not, Jewish, and attaining to that which he was, the firstborn
of the covenant which in heaven was to be the firstborn son of the Father in
the spirit and on earth to be the heir of the firstborn son of Israel under
whose name all the nations of the earth would be brought unto redemptive
salvation.
Why was it needful for the Messiah to be of the blood of Judah? Consider the
following: 1) Of all the creations it was to this earth that Lucifer and
his angels were cast down to. 2) Under such an influence, the children of
Adam were so corrupted that coming to the flood of Noah, the Lord told Enoch
that of all the creations, 'among all the workmanship of his hands there has
not been so great wickedness as among they brethern.' (Moses 7:36) 3) And by
the time of Christ the Book of Mormon states that he would 'come among
the Jews, among those who are
the more wicked part of the world; and they
shall crucify him—for thus it behooveth our God, and there is
none other nation on earth that would crucify their
God.' (2 Nephi 10:3)
Thus there is a line of thought which has been expressed a number of ways
which places this earth where Lucifer dwells as having the most wicked
influence upon its inhabitants to exceed that of all other creations and
that of the nations of this most wicked earth, only the Jewish nation of the
time of Christ was wicked enough that they would crucify the Messiah, their
own God. Certainly by being of the blood of Judah, Christ has descended
below all, having come to the wickedest nation of the wickedest earth of all
the creations of the Lord's hand in all the universe.
Blood is a symbol and also a fact of this earth's corruption. The
Resurrected eternal body is one of flesh and bone. It is not one of blood,
and flesh, and bone. It is the blood that corrupts. It is the blood of
Judah which was the corruptions taken upon himself, which the Messiah did
by becoming of the 'blood of Judah', he 'blood of corruption'. And it is also
in the shedding of that blood in the garden of Gethsemane by which the sins
of the world, the corruption of the world is removed.
In this respect Christ need to be of the blood of corruption, which corruption
was best presented by the blood of the tribe of Judah. This is the tribe
which since the days of Judah himself, had usurped the legal and rightful
position of leadership which did belong to the anointed of Jacob, which Jacob
had pronounce upon the head of Ephraim.
Now it was not by the Savior's 'right' through the blood of Judah that he
had the right to perform as the redeeming Lord. He did not obtain that right
through such as the 'blood of corruption'. Rather is was by the right of the
firstborn in Israel that the Savior had the right to be the redeemer of the
covenant. And that right, like all the rights and blessings of the covenant
were preserved through Joseph of Egypt and his son Ephraim.
