11 And David saved neither man nor woman
alivea, to bring tidings to
Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so
will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the
Philistines.
12 And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.

11a David saved neither man nor woman
alive This is the type of extermination destruction that the Lord
had commanded of Israel in the first place against Israel's enemies and those
who had populated the land of promise before Israel. As the Lord did continue
to favor David in his becoming king, we may presume that the Lord allowed
such at David's hand against his enemies. Yet when it came time that David
desired to build the House of the Lord, the Lord forbid David stateing that
he was a man of blood. Such as David's chosen manner of warfare may well have
been that which the Lord refered to as well as the fact that the blood of
Uriah lay at David's hands as well.
