1 AND in the seventh year
Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds,
Azariah the son of Jerohama,
and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah
the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with
him.
2 And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
3 And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said unto them, Behold, the king's son shall reign, as the LORD hath said of the sons of David.

1a Azariah the son of Jeroham
There must be either a great coincidence, an error in recording or a mistake
in translation here, for this 'captian of hundred' Azariah son of Jeroham
IS NOT the same as 'Azariah son of Jeroham the king' for he was slain just
previous in 2 Chronicles 22:9. That another who was but a captain of hundred
had the same name and the same father's name as the deceased king is possible
but unlikely. That an error of some type is made here by a compiler or
translator is more likely. But his 'error' does seem to confuse as to who
is made king next, that being in truth Joash or 'Jehoash' the 7 year old son
of the deceased Azariah as the 2 Kings 11 account does confirm, particularly
in the last verse, verse 21.
