18 Then will I stablish the throne of thy
kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying,
There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.
19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes
and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve
other gods, and worship them;
20 Then will I pluck them up by the
aroots out of my landa
which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name,
will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a
byword among all nations.

20a Then I will pluck them up by the
roots out of my land It is of some interest that not only had
Moses forewarned that Israel would be scattered when and if they were to
forsake the Lord and his commandments (See Deuteronomy 29:25-29), but here
also does Solomon at the
dedication of the temple in Jerusalem so state it also, given as a warning
to the people that they were to keep the commandments and statutes of the
Lord or else suffer that fate which we now have seen them to have suffered
in the scatterings of Israel and Judah to the far reaches of the earth. From
all those regions from which Solomon's wealth was taken the people of Israel
have been scattered thence.
