From two internet sites comes parallel information of a land transaction that identifies the Moon family who is of Higher Clicker and Higher Clicker Cross—that is the residence of the farming lands associated with Higher Clicker. Though the names so associated will be deduced with added references to the line pedigree presented below, it is noted that at the end of the lease agreement at the left is further reference given to the related previously standing lease agreements to be surrendered in connection with the creation of the current lease at hand. By using the supplied URL at the left, these other listed items are viewable by substituting either the 0, 1, or 2 in the place of the 3 in the last part of the URL of /73. That is /70, /71, or /72 in place of the /73 of that supplied address. They have been viewed and as far as they contribute to the following forming of family member identifications they have been so considered. Robert Moon is included as those 'lives' of the lessees involved, along with the lessee's son Joseph Moon; yet the actual named lessee, is Joseph Moon of Higher Clicker, Liskeard, gentleman, with whom the lease is made. It is this Joseph Moon, Gentleman of Higher Clicker who is the 'lessee father of son Joseph Moon' as set out in the line pedigree below. That is Joseph Moon, Gentlman is the responsible lessee to John Harris, Esq. And Joseph Moon, Gentleman, the lessee, is having included as part of the 99 yr. agreement the coverage of the lives of his brother Robert Moon and his son Joseph Moon jr. |

The Theophilus Moon and Honour Hawkey FamilyThose named in the preceding presented lease agreement are Theophilus Moon the deceased husband of Honor Hawkey in whom was a previous agreement relative to the Higher Clicker land property as referenced above, Robert Moon and Joseph Moon sons of said Theophilus Moon, who are the leasors and Joseph Moon's oldest son Joseph Moon, as included in this family's now newly consituted 99 year lease. What has occured is that the leased property and agreement has over the course of time and arrangement, been funnelled down from Theophilus to his two sons Robert and Joseph, and thence to Joseph's son Jospeh. These four people are set out in red below. The new lease has been set out for the lives of Joseph Moon's brother Robert Moon and Jospeh Moon's son Joseph Moon over the length of the rights of the 99 year lease being now entered into by Joseph Moon the father of the Joseph Moon whose life is included in the 99 year lease, thus preserving the claim to the land property being leased for those durations of time to be either needfully renegociated by either Robert Moon, Joseph Moon and/or Joseph Moon's son Joseph Moon. At that time the 99 year lease was over the lives of the then living sos of Theophilus, who were Joseph, Henry and Theophilus. Even then, son Robert was not included in the Higher Clicker lease though he was the eldest son.Now further information will be supples below concerning this family, the family of Joseph Moon and Susanna Moon, and the eventual families of Joseph Moon jr. and just how he is further also referenced as being of High Clicker. | ||

Susanna Moon is the daughter of Edward Moon and Jenny/Jane Morshead whose family is of Trewen and Treheer/Trehere. Joseph Moon Sr. = Susanna Moon of Hi. His mother in law, Jenny [Morshead] Moon list that he is the deceased father of her two grandsons Joseph and Charles Moon by the time of the 1810 writting of her will. Brother in law Robert Moons will written 15 July 1805 lists nephew Charles Moon son of Joseph Moon of High Clicker in manner that Joseph was living. Then there are two Liskeard parish burials for a Joseph Moon of 1806 and 1807 that could be of Joseph Moon of Higher Clicker. |
The case that Susanna Moon, daughter of Edward Moon and Jenny Morshead is the wife of Joseph Moon of Higher Clicker is solidly correct. Beyond the parish marriage record, much of the evidence comes from the family of Susanna Moon the the family wills beginning with her mother's Jenny [Morshead] Moon of Trewen written in 1810, where she names her two grandsons Joseph and Charles Moon and is state their father was Joseph Moon without stating that he, the father, was her son-her daughter being Susanna Moon of Trewen. (Note: granddaughter Jenny having deceased in 1797 was not in the will). The will of brother to Susanna and to Joseph brother in law is that of Robert Moon of Trewen. It was written and dated July 15, 1805, and in it Robert lists his nephew Charles Moon, son of Joseph Moon of High Clicker and his wife Susanna Moon. The case becomes completely solid by following the decades long association of 'cousin' Charles Moon with the family of George and Jane [Moon] Raby of Kevervel, East Looe and Pool Hall Menheniot. Jane is the daugher of my 5th great grandfather Nicholas Moon the brother of Susanna Moon making their children Jane Moon and Charles Moon cousins. Jane married George Raby which many of her siblings will denote. Cousin Charles is living with the Raby family from 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 to 1881 when he finally dies being of Pool Hall. The Case for the Missing ChildThere is a case for a missing child of this family that may be a situation of a misnamed mother. On the 1841 census, that names son William C. F. Moon age 3, there is also a child named Joseph age 11 in list. With his first family Joseph lost his first son named Joseph at age 2. It is common to name another later child by the same name and here it would be after the father's name. He is accounted for with a baptism record and a burial record. The problem is the baptism records his mother's name as Mary. And this though he is a fit for a first born son of then wife Catherine Ann [Foot] Moon. 1841 Liskeard Census ~ Book 10 Folio 8 Page 9

Since the 1841 census contains less information it is not for sure that this Joseph Moon age 11 is a son or a visitor
though he is listed in the position as being a son as preceeding him is daughter Christiana Moon and folloing him are
the other children of the name head and positioned wife of Chatherine Ann R. Moon. And it is the norm for a 'scholar' of
this age to be sent away to school, thus the Salt Ash Hockings School location of death fits the facts of the matter as
well.

Addendum - A Chat Note From On LineTony, I am one of the Moon family. However there are 3 Boduels (note spelling) and several Moon families. I think you are mainly interested in the Moons of North Boduel to which I may not be related. Boduel Farms There are at least three Boduel Farms in the area: North, Middle and South (also known as Moon’s Boduel) with as far as I can see 3 different Moon families, but I am not sure how, or if, they are all related. There is also a connection with Slade and Penhale farms which are adjacent to Boduel. South Boduel I am a descendent of Elizabeth Moon of South Boduel (1815-1848) who married John Rogers Moon of Higher Clicker, Liskeard (1815-1886) in 1841. Elizabeth was the daughter of John (1790-1870) and Mary Moon (also nee Moon, of Braddock) (1793-1877). Elizabeth had a brother William (?1816 (bapt. 1 Jan 1817)-1865) who married Honora Rogers Foott (1804-1881) in 1852 and had no children. She was a housekeeper to John Rogers Moon’s father, Joseph, in the 1851 census. In the 1861 census William and Honora were living at Moorswater, near to Boduel. I think the Moon(e)s at South Boduel can be traced through to a lease of 1664 in which Cornelius Moone leased it on a 99 year term from Jn. Squire of Laneast. I have two further Williams and a John as 18th century ancestors of John, father of Elizabeth, mainly based on wills. North Boduel The Moons at North Boduel are well documented by the wills of Philip Moon (1781), Christopher (1770) and Richard (1789). North Boduel is mentioned in Philip and Christopher’s wills and Richard mentions the same family members. I make Philip Moon, the husband of Isabella Walkom and father of Philip (surely) Boduel Moon b 27 Jan 1828 in Dudley, to be the son of Theophilus Moon (1753-1822), 3rd son of Philip Moon (1712-1781) as per Philip’s will proved in 1781. There is an admonission of 28 Sept 1822 to Philip Moon of the goods of Theophilus Moon, yeoman of the borough of Liskeard. There is a baptism of Philip Moon on 23 May 1784 at Liskeard that fits, father Theophilus, mother Ann; marriage 31 Dec 1781 Bodmin. If Theophilus and Ann are father and mother then other brothers and sisters are Ann Cloase (bapt 1805), Christopher (1788), Christopher Sleeman (1805), Harriett (1782), Richard (1786) and William (1790). Philip was an auctioneer (1813-5) or later conveyancer (1825) according to the baptismal records of his other children. Like others I can find no trace of his death. I suggest the Childs in some of his children’s names could be an employer as a Mr Childs was a well known Liskeard lawyer (Pigot’s Directory 1830). Philip (1712-1781) mentions three sons: Christopher (bapt 1736), Richard (1740) and Theophilus (1753) in his will as well as a daughter, Elisabeth (? 1762) and his wife also Elisabeth. Richard’s will of 1789 gives a hogshead of cider to Theophilus, mentions brother Christopher and mother Elizabeth as well as sister Elizabeth. Richard seems to have been unmarried and a yeoman. Christopher (1709-1770) was Philip’s brother and in his will he mentions his wife Mary and daughters, Sarah (bapt 1754) and Elizabeth (bapt 1757). His son John (bapt 1748) does not appear to have survived. It appears that ‘North Boduell ‘was left to Sarah or in the case of her death to Elizabeth. I guess Elizabeth to have married Charles Bunt in 1780 as Charles Bunt’s will of 1813 mentions his niece Elizabeth Dyer as a beneficiary and in the 1852 list of Liskeard electors Charles Bunt Dyer of Amlwch, N. Wales and William Bunt Dyer of Mold, N. Wales held freehold land at North Boduel. (Charles Bunt’s will also mentions two other Moons: William of Horn lane, Liskeard and Ann, widow of Henry Moon of Trewidland.) Christopher, father of Philip (1712-1781) and Christopher (1709-1770), in his will of 1713 mentions this youngest son Philip and unnamed elder son as well as daughters Sara (bapt 1701), Jane (1698) and Elizabeth (bapt 1706) and wife Sara. As the children were very young he appointed Philip Lyne and John Quiller as guardians and executors of his estate at ‘Bodduell North’. There may be earlier references to North Boduel as I have not checked all available Moon wills. Middle Boduel (modern North Boduel) In the Liskeard Tithe Survey of 1842, this is partly leased by William Moon. I take this to be William (1786-1860), brother of John of South Boduel, and who was unmarried in the 1851 census. I am also a descendant of another Moon family with many Philips who also may be associated with Boduel. Joseph Moon (?176x-1804), grandfather of John Rogers Moon of Higher Clicker, in 1788 married Susannah (1760-1824), daughter of Philip and Susanna Moon who were married in 1743. Joseph and Susannah appear to have lived at Higher Clicker. Philip and Susanna also had two sons named Philip, baptised at Liskeard in 1749, who presumably did not survive, and St Keyne in 1754, as well as others. Higher Clicker is about 5 km SE of Boduel. As there were so many Moon families the above is incomplete and some may be incorrect. Regards Charlie Moon |
