Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet to his brother Hyrum Smith, at Harmony, Pennsylvania, May 1829. HC 1:39-46. This revelation was received through the Urim and Thummim in answer to Joseph's supplication and inquiry. "History of the Church" suggests that this revelation was received after the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood.
7—14, Seek wisdom, cry repentance, trust in the Spirit; 15—22, Keep the commandments and study the Lord's word; 23—27, Deny not the spirit of revelation and of prophecy; 28—30, Those who receive Christ become the sons of God.
D&C 11:1 A great and amarvelous work is about to come forth
among the children of men.
D&C 11:2 Behold, I am God; give aheed to my bword, which is quick and cpowerful, dsharper than a two-edged sword, to the dividing asunder of both joints and marrow; therefore give eheed unto my word.
|
||
D&C 11:3 Behold, the field is awhite already to harvest;
therefore, whoso desireth to reap let him thrust in his sickle with his
bmight, and reap while the day lasts, that he may
ctreasure up for his soul deverlasting
salvation in the kingdom of God.
D&C 11:4 Yea, whosoever will thrust in his sickle and areap, the same is bcalled of God.
|
||
D&C 11:5 Therefore, if you will ask of me you shall receive; if you will
aknock it shall be opened unto you.
D&C 11:6 Now, as you have asked, behold, I say unto you, keep my commandments, and seek to bring forth and establish the cause of aZion. D&C 11:7 Seek not for ariches but for bwisdom; and, behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto youa, and then shall you be made crich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich.b

11a the mysteries of God shall be
unfolded unto you They that sincerely seek after the Lord asking
him shall recieve and by the deligency of study it shall be open unto them.
And what will be made manifest? The mysteries to the kingdom of heaven and
that which a man must do in order to obtain eternal life. This is what is
meant by the Savior when he stated, 'search the scriptures for in them ye
think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testify of me.' By such
diligence one comes to know that salvation is in and of the Lord, not of the
Law. Men in an of themselves are powerless to prevail. Only by the power and
aid of God can man obtain heaven. This is the center of the atonment and the
grace of God, by which we may be saved unto eternal life. There is no other
way. The doctrine is simple but must be understood and complied with. It is
the key to the key to the kingdom. Mysteries when revealed are but the simple
truths of the order and kingdom of God.
11b he that hath eternal life is rich When one comes to this realization that all about this earth, this second estate is but naught when compared to the kingdom of heaven becomes rich in that knowledge that it mattereth not concerning the things of this world, but that which is in the world to come. Eternity is the reality not mortality. And while we do exist here subject to the failties of this carnal existance, nothing about it is lasting but that which pertains unto God. Put these earth strains off and seek unto God. In him only is life, even life eternal. |

|
||
D&C 11:18 Keep my commandments; hold your peace; appeal unto my Spirit;
D&C 11:19 Yea, acleave unto me with all your heart, that you might assist in bringing to light those things of which has been spoken—yea, the btranslation of my work; be patient until you shall accomplish it. D&C 11:20 Behold, this is your work, to akeep my commandments, yea, with all your might, bmind and strength.
|
||
D&C 11:21 Seek not to adeclare my word, but first seek to
bobtain my cword, and then shall your
tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my
dSpirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the
econvincing of men.
D&C 11:22 But now hold your apeace; study my word which bhath gone forth among the children of men, and also cstudy my word which shall come forth among the children of men, or that which is dnow translating, yea, until you have obtained all which I shall egrant unto the children of men in this generation, and then shall all things be added thereto.

bsons of God, even to them that cbelieve
on my name. Amen.
