Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet to David Whitmer, at Fayette, New York, Jun 1829. HC 1:48—50. the Whitmer family had become greatly interested in the translating of the Book of Momron. the Prophet established his residence at the home of Peter Whitmer, Sen., where he dwelt until the work of translation was carried to completion and the copyright on the forthcoming book secured. Three of the Whitmer sons, each having received a testimony as to the genuineness of the work, became deeply concerned over the matter of their individual duty. This revelation and the two next following (Sections 15 and 16) were given in answer to an inuiry through the Urim and Thummim. David Whitmer later became one of the Three Witnesses to the Book of Mormon.
    1—6, Laborers in the vineyard will gain salvation;
    7—8, Eternal lie is the greatest of God's gifts;
    9—11, Christ created the heavens and teh earth.
D&C 14:1 A great and amarvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.
D&C 14:2 Behold, I am God; give heed to my word, which is quick and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, to the dividing asunder of both joints and marrow; therefore give heed unto my word.

D&C 14:3 Behold, the field is white already to harvest; therefore, whoso desireth to reap let him thrust in his sickle with his might, and reap while the day lasts, that he may treasure up for his soul everlasting salvation in the kingdom of God.
D&C 14:4 Yea, whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap, the same is called of God.

D&C 14:5 Therefore, if you will ask of me you shall receive; if you will aknock it shall be opened unto you.
D&C 14:6 Seek to bring forth and establish my Zion. Keep my commandments in all things.
D&C 14:7 And, if you akeep my commandments and bendure to the end you shall have ceternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of Goda.

 7a which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God It is a gift given freely and openly to all men to receive that gift of eternal life in the scope of receiving the salvation unto immortality, being raise up from the grace and being reunited with one's body in the resurrection. This is central to the work and glory of God. And 'ALL' that will, will be saved. It is a free gift unto all men. There is life after death adn through the atonment and grace of God, we will be raised unto a state of incorruption to live forever without the chains and bondage of sin. That is the 'great gift of God' unto all his children. Beyond the gift is the levels of glory to which men have achieved by their deligence and righteous and worthy living. And though the final grace and sanctification of this position of glory is also given to men to raise them beyond the level of this mortal corruption unto incorruption, it will differ in degree depending upon the deligence which man has spend in living according to the various gospel principles and the light which Christ has offered unto all. Those who have be less responsive will gain a lesser degree of the Lord's glory according to that diligence and those have responded greatly and have excelled, will be raise up unto that state of becoming perfect in God and Christ, becoming even as they are, Gods, with all the powers, blessings and principalities there unto. And then their work too will also be to spend their life in service in he bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of their own future spirit sons and daughters. And they will function on the level of God, being his kings and queens, priest and priestesses, receiveing a fulness of the glory of God.
D&C 14:8 And it shall come to pass, that if you shall ask the Father in my name, in faitha abelieving, you shall receive the bHoly Ghost, which cgiveth utterance, that you may stand as a dwitness of the things of which you shall both ehear and see, and also that you may declare frepentance unto this generation.
D&C 14:9 Behold, I am aJesus Christ, the bSon of the cliving God, who dcreated the heavens and the eearth, a flight which cannot be hid in gdarkness;

 8a if you shall ask the Father in my name, in faith While men are not to aspire to certain positions in the church, the work of God is there for all men to do. And according to the order of the kingdom of God, and according to the agency of man, men are to actively ask the Father in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ what it is that the mind and the will of the Lord would have them do in building up of the kingdom. The desire for service is the saving desire which brings men forth out of themsleves and forth unto the serving of others in the love of God. And this is the saving grace of God to be so actively engaged in the good work of the Lord and not passively sitting by merely observing the goings on from afar.
D&C 14:10 Wherefore, I must bring forth the afulness of my bgospel from the cGentiles unto the house of Israel.
D&C 14:11 And behold, thou art David, and thou art called to assist; which thing if ye do, and are faithful, ye shall be blessed both spiritually and temporally, and great shall be your reward. Amen.
