1 On that night could not the king
sleepa, and he
commanded to bring the book of arecords of the
bchronicles; and they were read before the king.
2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of
aBigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of
the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
3 And the king said, What honour and dignity hath
been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that
ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.

1a On that night could not the king
sleep By small means does the Lord work. Just what kept the king
awake that night and why did he think to remember the act of having his life
protected and speared, that he would at this time seek to look up Mordecai's
name, a name apparently forgotten by the king? And why now did the king think
to so give honor and respect unto Mordecai? All things are known and remembered
by God. And it was time to play the 'card' of honoring Mordecai to further
draw in Haman unto the course of events over seen by God to bring about his
demise and to preserve the Lord's people.
