25 But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.
26 And I will scatter the Egyptians
among the nationsa, and disperse
them among the countries; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

26a I will scatter the Egyptians among
the nations It is of some interest to understand that not only
'the Egyptians' are here being scattered among the nations, but also that
Israel is further being scattered here as well. Recall that the 'remant' left
in the land after Babylon destroyed Jerusalem, among whom Jeremiah was left
to dwell, had also taken leave of the land out of fear and had evacuated
themselves further down into Egypt. But as here told by Ezekiel, such as were
in Egypt were not safe either and they would have to further so scatter. Some
have speculated that Mulek may have accompanied this party down into Egypt
and may have been scattered from there, perhaps even taking 'tarshish' ship(s)
out of Ezion-Geber to the distant 'safe' land of the Americas.
