30 ¶ Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.
31 And they come unto thee as the people
cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they
ahear thy words, but they will not do them: for with
their bmouth they shew much love, but their
hearta goeth after their
ccovetousness.

31a with their mouth they shew much love,
but their heart It is called 'lip service' when one speaks of
righteousness but does not do it. This was the state of Judah, there mouths
would speak the oaths and covenants of the Lord but they by their actions
would speak that they did not follow after them. Such was the state of things
at the time of Joseph Smith. The people would speak mightly of God, but they
did not follow his ways in their daily actions. This is why the Lord said of
them, "they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from
me" (PoGP JS-History 1:19).
