1 THEN the aprophets,
bHaggai the prophet, and cZechariah the
son of Iddoa, prophesied unto the
Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of
Israel, even unto them.
2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.

1a Zechariah the son of Iddo
It is not uncommon for a generation or even generations to be dropped out of
an ancestral linage. The prophet Zechariah was the son of Berechiah, who in
turn was the son of Iddo (Zechariah 1:1). Thus Iddo was actually Zechariah's
grandfather and he was Iddo's grand-son. There were a number of men in the
Bible by the name of Iddo, but there is no clear association of any of these
with the ancestor of Zechariah the prophet contemporary with Ezra, Haggai,
and Habakkuk; and even Nehemiah, not to mention such as Zerubbabel the son of
Shealtiel and Jeshua/Joshua the son of Jozadak.
