20 ¶ And the families of the children of
aKohath, the Levites which remained of the children of
Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of
Ephraima.
21 For they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with her suburbs,
22 And Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Beth-horon with her suburbs; four cities.

20b the cities of their lot of the tribe
of Ephraim Now a part of the children of Kohath were to serve in
Ephraim and thus likely was cousin John, son of Zacharias, related to Jesus
and of those who did serve Ephraim. Though not the same as in the days of
Jesus, the cities in Ephraim, which were cities of Ephraim, that were give
the Levites to reside in were Shechem in mount Ephraim, Gezer, Kebzaim and
Bethhoron, four cities. By the end of the time of the Judges, one such Lehite
family was of Ramathaim-zophim of mount Ephraim, perhaps a village suburb of
one of the other four major cities mentioned or even an out groth over time
to such another location (I Samuel 1:1).
