16 And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
17 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of
speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that
place Ramath-lehia.

17a Ramath-lehi Ramath or
Ramah means a mount, mountainous, or an elevated elevation. Thus Ramath-lehi
means 'Mount Lehi' or perhaps the 'hill(s) of Lehi' or even Jawbone Hill,
that is in the shape of a jawbone. Lehi means the jaw bone, particularly of
an ass in the Samson story.
