10 The hands of the pitiful
awomen have bsodden their own
childrena: they were their
cmeat in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.
12 The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.

10a The hands of the pitiful women have
sodden their own children This has a dualistic interpretation. Not
that they became literally canibals, though that is possible, but that they
did 'devour' their children moralistically, or for their own wantonness, they
neglected to care for and raise their children properly in the sight of the
Lord. That is due to their neglect they did 'waste' or devour the lifes of
their children to make them naught or of little worth.
