1 AND when any will offer
aa meat
offeringa unto the LORD, his
offering shall be of fine flour; and he
shall pour oil upon it, and put bfrankincense thereon:
2 And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD:
3 And the remnant of the ameat
offering shall be bAaron's and his sons':
it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by
fire.

1a meat offering This is not
to be confused with fleshy meat of an animal, but it is an offering of
'meal' consisting of grain (flour and cakes made from grain). Like all
offerings unto the Lord, it was to be of the 'first' and 'finest' quality.
And once again it depicts man's wellingness to subordinate the substance of
the earth unto the Lord first, that the temporal is in subjection to the
spiritual. It might be noted that Cain's ancient offering was not entirely
unpresidented. 'Meal Offerings' were made to the Lord. But not as the
required offering which represented the blood sacrifice of the lamb of God.
Cain failed to offer the similitude of the blood offering. No 'sin offering'
was to be offered with or to be replaced by such a 'Meal Offering'.
