9 For ye know the agrace of
our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was
bricha, yet for
your sakes he became cpoor, that ye through his
dpoverty might be rich.
10 And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
11 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.

9a though he was rich Because
of the humble circumstance of the Saviour's birth it is often presumed that
his family was poor as to wealth. We know that his uncle Joseph of Arimathea
was quite wealthy and of the Pharisees. It would seem that the profession of
a 'carpenter' would not have lived in poverty. Jesus also being in that
profession as brought up to be the son of Joseph, would have also been a
skilled crafts man and if this inference is correct, he had wealth enough to
be called rich. Thus it would seem that like that request Jesus made of the
rich young man to forsake all that he had and come and follow after Jesus,
Jesus may well have already done in and of himself in order to begin his
mission and follow after the will of the Father, his Father, to minister unto
the people the Gospel of the kingdom, even unto the eventual effectual giving
his life in the service of his fellow man giveing unto them the riches of
eternity and immortality—all that his Father hath.
