Elishama the son of Ammihuda:
of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

10a Elishama the son of Ammihud
These men were the renowned princes of the various tribes, the heirs and heads
of their tribe. Elishama was in turn the father of Nun who was the father of
Joshua (1 Chronicles 7:26-27). This establishes that the heirship of Ephraim
and the covenant of the fathers was upon the head of Joshua, the last of the
surviving Ephraimites who had come out of Egypt after the 40 years in the
wilderness before entering the promised land. It was the Ephraimite heir who
did lead the children of Israel to enter into the promised land at the site
of crossing where also another did also open the gate to the promised
kingdom of God at that same place of his baptism by John the Baptist. In this
was Joshua a type and foreshadowing of Christ.
