       CHAPTER 111

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion—Holy and reverend is his name—The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

1 PRAISE ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the aassembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
3 His awork is bhonourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.
6 He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the aheathen.
7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.
8 They astand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.
9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for evera: holy and areverend is his name.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of awisdom: a good bunderstanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
9a he hath commanded his covenant for ever The covenant is everlasting and its beginning was in the great preexistent councils of heaven. It was made unto Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Joseph, Ephraim, Moses and all those who come unto Christ by way of his covenant ordinances and performances. The Lord's covenant is unto salvation and purpose and intent is to bring to pass the immortallity and eternal life of man. It is the covenant which was sought after by Abraham (Abraham 1) and it is those promises unto the fathers which were preserved in Joseph (D&C 27:10). It is preserved in the gospel of Jesus Christ, whose covenant it is as he does provide the way unto its fulfilment.
