Old Testament Commentary - Psalms 121

by Don R. Hender

The central theme of the Everlasting Gospel is really quite simple. It ' is summarized in the name of the Lord given him by commandment to Joseph and to Mary. JESUS in Greek is the same name as Joshua or Jehoshua in Hebrew. It means 'Jehovah Saves'. That is Salvation is to be found in Jehovah who is the same as Jesus Christ. This is the central theme of God's Eternal Plan. They who come unto Christ will be saved and those who don't won't. The whole of the Doctrine of Christ is based upon the central figure of Jesus Christ. Stated variously in this Psalm of praise is that central theme. Our only help cometh from the LORD, He and no one else. He it is that preserves our going out and our coming back in. He is the way the truth and the light.
