       PSALM 123

Lift up thine eyes unto the Lord and plead with him for mercy.

A Son of degrees.
1 UNTO thee alift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon usa.
2a until that he have mercy upon us In that we are all sinners and fallen and corrupt beings before God, we are totally dependant upon God's mercy toward us. And the Lord will do what he will do. We can only recognize his hand in all things, stive to do his will and rely upon his mercy to so deliver us according to his own mind and will and upon his own time and manner. We trust that he will treat us fair and grant mercy and dilerance from that which besets us. May his mercy be given and we delivered.
3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the ascorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
