CHAPTER 16
A Messianic Psalm of David—He rejoices in the saints that are in the
earth; in his own future redemption from hell; in the fact that God will not
suffer his Holy One (Christ) to see corruption; and that fulness of joy is
found in the Lord's presence.

1 PRESERVE me, O God: for in
thee do I put my atrust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the
LORD, Thou art my Lord: amy goodness
extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
|
|
|
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another agod: their drink
offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
  5 The LORD is the
aportion of mine binheritance and of my
cup: thou cmaintainest my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
|
|
|
7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the aLORD always
before me: because he is at my bright hand, I shall
not be moved.
|
|
|
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory
rejoiceth: my aflesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not aleave
my bsoul in chell; neither wilt
thou suffer thine dHoly One to see
corruptiona.
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy
apresence is bfulness of
djoy; at thy right hand there are
dpleasures for evermore.
|
10a neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy
One to see corruption Here then is that Messianic statement which
points directly to Jesus Christ who would come and die and be raised again
after 3 days in the grave, not to see the ultimate corruption of the flesh
but to once again take his body of flesh and bones upon himself in the
resurrection.
