       CHAPTER 21

A Messianic Psalm of David—He tells of the glory of the great King—He shall triumph over all his enemies—Their evil designs shall fail.

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 THE king shall joy in thy strength, O LORDa; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
2 Thou hast given him his heart's adesire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
1a The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD Perhaps here it may be considered that the 'king of Israel' is and was to be a type and shadow of that great 'King of Israel', the Anointed of God the Father, even Jesus Chirst who is the same as Jehovah. As a type of the Messiah many a 'scripture' and 'psalm' becomes dualistic and readily transferable in application to the 'king' and to 'The King' of Israel. Tied togther with that the psalms very well could be and are but 'songs' taken from prophetic scripture which likely was existant in the days of David but have become extinct in many case over the years of the compilation of the Jewish Olt Testament. And thus these Psalms of David give both insight to what may have existed in sciptures of the prophets now lost which David took liberty to refer to himself, God's anointed king of Israel, though much and many were more in direct reference in the original to that great 'King of Israel' the Anointed of God, even Jehovah as the Messiah Jehoshua, even Jesus Christ. And thus the ready and often fluid transition from reference to David as king of Israel to that honored descendant of David to come the very King of Israel, the Messiah and Lord Jehoshua/Jesus the Son of God. And thus the Messianic Psalms are often also viewed as the Royal Psalms which are in reference to the King/king of Isreal in a dualistic foreshadowing typing of the one unto the other.
3 For athou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a bcrown of pure gold on his head.
4 He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
5 His aglory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
6 For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
7 For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
8 Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
9 Thou shalt make them as a afiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
10 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their aseed from among the children of men.
11 For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
12 Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
13 Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.
