       CHAPTER 86

David implores God for mercy and is saved from the lowest hell—The Lord is good and plenteous in mercy—All nations shall worship before him.

A Prayer of David
1 aBOW down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am bpoor and needy.
2 Preserve my asoul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.
3 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.
4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I alift up my soul.
5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to aforgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
6 Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will acall upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
8 Among the agods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.
9 aAll bnations whom thou hast made shall ccome and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
10 For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
11 aTeach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.
13 For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast adelivered my soul from the lowest hella.
14 O God, the aproud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.
15 But thou, O aLord, art a God full of bcompassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in cmercy and truth.
13a my soul from the lowest hell Just as David speaks of degrees or gradations of hell, there being a lowest there must also be a hell above it; so is there gradations of heaven's kingdoms in degree of glory and reward. If it were not so God would be a respector of persons, rewarding differently relative to one's worthiness. That is a minor sin being punished to the same degree as a major sin such as murder. Yet God's mercy and atonement can deliver man from all degrees of hell excepting the denying of the Holy Ghost which is the rejection of the Messiah after the witness of God through the Holy Ghost.
Now as to the degress of heaven, does not Paul speak of the third heaven? (2 Corinthians 12:2) And if there is a third there must be a first and second heaven also and the degrees thereof. Also Paul speaks of the celestial glory and the terrestrial glory and that as one star differeth from another star in glory, there also are as many degrees of glory in the telestial kingdoms of glory (1 Corinthians 15:39-40).
Thus which one asks, are you saved? We answer yes we have professed Jesus Christ and taken his name upon us at the time of our baptism. And in turn we ought to caution and warn all those who presume that they are 'saved' that they ought to so live and do the works of righteousness as not to let Satan back in to an empty house and also to further gain such higher degrees of glory and even exaltation which God has promised. And this is what we have to offer the world, that beyond mere salvation unto immortality and the resurrection, we mark out the paths and the ways unto the higher degrees of glory and exaltation with God in the Celestial Kingdom.
16 O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.
17 Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.
