MOTHER EVE
"I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her
seed; it shall bruise [crush] thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." ~
Genesis 3:15
[Christ shall crush the Serpent's head.]
The world in general has failed to give our Mother Eve
the full respect, honor and recognition that is her due. She stands as the mother of all
living as to pertaining to this world. She was a most righteous person and endowed by
heaven and God to stand side by side with Father Adam. Not only endowed with the great
blessing of being the mother of all, in particular she was the ancestral mother of the
'seed', that is the Christ and Redeemer of the world to come. In her was the power to
bring forth life, and not only life of this world but of the blessed gift of immortality
and the eternities to come. From her, not only a line of sons would be that progenators
of the Messiah, but more particular and closer relationed, a line of women who would stand
as the life line of motherhood to our Lord and God in the flesh. No one could or would
stand closer to our God but that woman who would give him life on earth, for she would be
his mother, and his father was to be none other than God the Father himself.
Now I do not know what Mother Eve did look like, at least my memory of such has been
withheld. Yet despite the vain entrappings of the intellectual men of the world, I know
somewhat concerning that which she did not look like. She was not some long past tribal
mother of the evolutionary theory of human origin. She was a perfect beauty of a full
statued and intelligent woman, made and designed by the very hand of God. And the far
flung misunderstanding of human genetics, which the children of science are merely
scratching at the surface of to try to understand, has no hold of correct depiction of
who she really was.
An Apostle's Contemplation
“All the purposes of the world … would be brought to naught without woman—a keystone in
the priesthood arch of creation. …
“From the rib of Adam, Eve was formed (see Genesis 2:22; Moses 3:22; Abraham 5:16). … The
rib signifies neither dominion nor subservience, but a lateral relationship as partners,
to work and to live, side by side.
“… She was designed by Deity to cocreate and nurture life, that the great plan of the
Father might achieve fruition. Eve ‘was the mother of all living’ (Moses 4:26).”1 - Elder
Russel M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostle
Together Adam and Eve taught their posterity the gospel and set a righteous example for
them.
Latter-day Saints honor Eve for her wisdom and courage in providing, with Adam, the
opportunity for mortal life to all the human family. Eve said, “Were it not for our
transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil,
and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the
obedient” (Moses 5:11).
Since the very beginning with mother Eve, it would be the great hope and desire of the
righteous women of the followers of God that they might be one in that line of descent
who would be counted as being one of the ancestral mothers of the promised blessed son of
God. It was an understood possibility which accompied the great commandment which applied
to both men and women, that they were to participate in marriage and live with the intent
to so multiply and 'replenish' or fill the earth. In deed, without women and the
foreordained blessing upon them from before the foundation of the world, the purpose of
the world would be brouhgt to naught. And that purpose is the very purpose and work and
glory of God, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man (Moses 1:39).
"And the Lord said: Blessed is he [/she] through whose seed Messiah shall come; for he
saith—I am Messiah the King of Zion, the Rock of Heaven, which is broad as eternity;
whoso cometh in at the gate and climbeth up by me shall never fall; wherefore, blessed are
they of whom I have spoken, for they shall come forth with songs of everlasting joy." ~ {The
voice of the Lord by way of Enoch according to the record of Moses 7:53}
