Will of Richard Robins
In his will Richard Robins, son of Richard Robins and Joane Rogers, sister of Joane Morshead;
does set forth his relationship to his sister Joane and the family relationship to the
Morshead family. That is highlighted in yellow in that part of the will which establishes
that. Further the will of Richard Robins seems to also set out his families relationship
to the Moon family. But as to which Moon family and whether it be one of the two Moon family
lines which is also ours, is yet to be determined. Sorting it all out will take more than
a few read throughs and comparison to the various Moon family pedigrees of which it may
be speaking.
Now in the will, Richard speaks of his 'Cozen' Susanna Moarshead, who is in fact his niece,
the daughter of his sister Joane who married John Morshead. And that Susanna Moarshead will
marry a Cornelius Moon but not until 1751, two years after the will of Richard Robins. And
Richard also speaks in his will of his 'Cozen' Jone Moon, so the Robins family already has
a Moon family connection other than the one which his niece Susanna Morshead will effect
in two more years time. So which Moon line that is, is to be determined and there are plenty
of 'Joan/Joane/Jone/etc. Moons' about to sort through. And if 'Cozens' John and Richard Moon,
sons of John Moon the mason of Liskeard, are related in and through said Jone Moon, then
perhaps this is that which will determine who that 'other' Moon line is. If not, then there
may just be a third or fourth line of Moon families to be looked at.
Now Joan could be Cornelius' sister Joan Moon cb 21 Feb 1710, sister-in-law of Richard's
niece Susanna Moreshead who married Cornelius Moon, if she is still alive and unmarried
in 1749/50. And if Cornelius' older brother John Moon cb 22 Oct 1701 is the John Moon,
mason of Liskeard who also marries an 'Elizabeth' like his father about
1730, he could be the father of John and Richard born in 1731 and 1736.
Then they would be 'cozens' in a similar manner as well. And it would keep
it relatively to just the one Moon family through the Cornelius Moon
connection of Richard's niece Susanna Morshead Moon, daughter of Richard's
sister Jone/Joan Robins Morshead. I'll have to go through it again and
see if I can trace that 'mason of Liskeard' down a bit.

This is a Tremabe is Liskeard which is somewhat northwest of South Boduel; both of which
are to the west of Liskeard 'city' town. This link to a survey
map from a time and period in which many of these place names where the Moon families
of Liskeard did a some time reside. Most of the lands sites are likely of the tenent and
lease variety, though Cornelius Moon of Great Treheer is posted as a land owning registered
voter. I have attempted to darken in the names of such places on this large map and
eventually will likely further indicate them some how. For now a review of this map may
give some insites into the Moon family 'haunts' and also to that which others who have
family relationships to Moon ma find of interest. |
