The second son of Elimelech and Naomi who married Orpah. Some scholars also think that Chilion may have also married Ruth after the death of Mahlon his brother. This is likely becasue when Boaz 'redeemed' the lands of inheritance as part of the 'kinsman' surrogate vicarious performance of marrying Ruth, Boaz 'redeemed' all lands and properties of the house of Elimech which included those of Elimelech, Mahlon and Chilion (See Ruth 4:9).

Chilion is defined as being an Ephramite by some (Stong's KJV Bible Definitions, etal.). This correlates with the concept that all uses of the Hebrew term 'Ephrathi or Ephrathiy' or Ephrathite, do mean being of the tribe of Ephraim.
