  • Matt. 27:33-37

And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of aa skull,

¶ They gave him avinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

And they acrucified him, and bparted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my cgarments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

     And sitting down they watched him there;

And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

  • John 19:38-42

¶ And after this aJoseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for bfear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

And there came also aNicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of bmyrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new asepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ apreparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

  • John 20:1-17

THE afirst day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet bdark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the cstone taken away from the dsepulchre.

Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other adisciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the bLord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.

So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.

Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,

And the anapkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.

Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.

For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must arise again from the bdead.

Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.

¶ But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

And seeth two aangels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and asaw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, aMaster.

Jesus saith unto her, aTouch me not; for I am not yet bascended to my cFather: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my dFather, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

  • John 18:28

¶ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the apassover.

  • John 5:2-9

Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

Jesus saith unto him, aRise, take up thy bed, and walk.

And immediately the man was made awhole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the bsabbath.

  • Luke 1:5-25

¶ THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named aZacharias, of the course of bAbia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and aordinances of the Lord blameless.

And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was abarren, and they both were now well bstricken in years.

And it came to pass, that while he executed the apriest’s office before God in the order of his bcourse,

According to the custom of the apriest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

But the angel said unto him, aFear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a bson, and thou shalt call his name John.

And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither awine nor strong drink; and he shall be bfilled with the cHoly Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.

And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of aElias, to turn the hearts of the bfathers to the children, and the cdisobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people dprepared for the Lord.

And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I aknow this? for I am an bold man, and my wife well cstricken in years.

And the aangel answering said unto him, I am bGabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

And, behold, thou shalt be adumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou bbelievest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

And it came to pass, that, as soon as the adays of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my areproach among men.

  • Matt. 27:51

     And, behold, the aveil of the temple was brent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did cquake, and the rocks rent;

  • John 10:22-39

¶ And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s aporch.

Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to adoubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye abelieved not: the bworks that I do in my Father’s cname, they bear witness of me.

But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

My asheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they bfollow me:

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which agave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

I and my Father are aone.

Then the Jews took up astones again to stone him.

Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for ablasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself bGod.

Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are agods?

     If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

Say ye of him, whom the Father hath asanctified, and bsent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the cSon of God?

If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.

But if I do, though ye believe not me, abelieve the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the bFather is in me, and I in him.

Therefore they asought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

  • Acts 3:11-26

And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the aporch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.

¶ And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our aown power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath aglorified his Son Jesus; whom ye bdelivered up, and cdenied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

     But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a amurderer to be granted unto you;

And killed the aPrince of life, whom God hath braised from the dead; whereof we are cwitnesses.

And his aname through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the bfaith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

And now, brethren, aI bwot that through cignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.

But those things, which God before had ashewed by the mouth of all his bprophets, that Christ should csuffer, he hath so fulfilled.

     ¶ aRepent ye therefore, and be bconverted, that your sins may be cblotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the dpresence of the Lord;

And he shall send aJesus Christ, which before was preached unto byou:

Whom the heaven must receive until the times of arestitution of all things, which God hath bspoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A aprophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be adestroyed from among the people.

Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise aforetold of these days.

Ye are the achildren of the prophets, and of the bcovenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be cblessed.

Unto you first God, having raised up his aSon Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

  • Acts 3:1-10

NOW Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

     And a certain man alame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an aalms.

And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have agive I thee: In the bname of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

And he took him by the right hand, and alifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

And all the people asaw him walking and praising God:

And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

aAnd saith unto him, bIf thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not atempt the Lord thy God.

  • Gen. 22:9-14

And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

And he said, aLay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou bfearest God, seeing thou hast not cwithheld thy son, thine only son from me.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

And Abraham called the name of that place aJehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, bIn the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

And the ahouse which king bSolomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the cbreadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.

And the aporch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

And for the house he made awindows of narrow lights.

¶ And against the wall of the house he built achambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the boracle: and he made chambers round about:

The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.

And the house, when it was in building, was built of astone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.

So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.

And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

For mine eyes have seen thy asalvation,

     Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

A alight bto lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

     And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is aset for the bfall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the atemple, sitting in the midst of the bdoctors, cboth hearing them, and dasking them questions.

And all that heard him were astonished at his aunderstanding and answers.

And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

Then saith he unto them, My soul is aexceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and bwatch with me.

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and aprayed, saying, O my bFather, if it be possible, let this ccup pass from me: nevertheless not as I dwill, but as ethou fwilt.

And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them aasleep, and saith unto Peter, What, bcould ye not watch with me one hour?

aWatch and bpray, that ye enter not into ctemptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy awill be done.

And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

¶ And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and ahealed him.

Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of adarkness.

And Ezra the scribe stood upon a apulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:

And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.

So they read in the book in the alaw of God bdistinctly, and cgave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

And he defiled aTopheth, which is in the valley of the children of bHinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to cMolech.

  • 2 Chr. 28:3

Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the afire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

  • Matt. 26:57-68

¶ And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to aCaiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

     Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false awitness against Jesus, bto put him to death;

But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false awitnesses,

And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the atemple of God, and to build it in three days.

And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

But Jesus aheld his bpeace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I cadjure thee by the dliving God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the aSon of man sitting on the right hand of bpower, and ccoming in the clouds of heaven.

Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken ablasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

What think ye? They answered and said, He is aguilty bof cdeath.

Then did they aspit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that asmote thee?

  • Matt. 26:69-75

¶ Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a adamsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech abewrayeth thee.

Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the acock crew.

And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt adeny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

  • Matt. 26:20-30

Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

The Son of man goeth as it is awritten of him: but woe unto that man by whom the bSon of man is betrayed! cit had been good for that man if he had not been dborn.

Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

¶ And as they were eating, Jesus took abread, band blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my cbody.

     And he took the acup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, bDrink ye all of it;

aFor this is my bblood of the new ctestament, which is shed for many for the dremission of sins.

But I say unto you, I will not adrink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I bdrink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

And when they had sung an ahymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

  • John 13:4-17

He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to awash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

aPeter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I bwash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is aclean every whit: and ye are bclean, but not all.

For he knew who should abetray him; therefore said he, Ye are not ball clean.

So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

Ye call me aMaster and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

If I then, your Lord and aMaster, have bwashed your feet; ye also ought to cwash one another’s dfeet.

For I have given you an aexample, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

If ye know these things, ahappy are ye if ye do them.

  • John 13:18

  • Luke 23:7-11

And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

¶ And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some amiracle done by him.

Then he questioned with him in many words; but he aanswered him nothing.

And the chief priests and ascribes stood and vehemently accused him.

And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and amocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

Nevertheless David took the strong hold of aZion: the same is the bcity of David.

  • 1 Chr. 11:4-7

¶ And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the aJebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.

And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.

And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.

And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the acity of David.

  • 2 Kgs. 25:1-11

AND it came to pass in the aninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that bNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they cbuilt forts against it round about.

And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

¶ And the acity was bbroken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king’s garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.

And the army of the Chaldees apursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were bscattered from him.

So they took the aking, and brought him up to the king of bBabylon to Riblah; and they gave cjudgment upon him.

And they slew the asons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and bcarried him to cBabylon.

¶ And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came aNebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:

And he aburnt the bhouse of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man’s house cburnt he with fire.

And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.

Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard acarry away.

  • Acts 2:1-5

AND when the day of aPentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty awind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

And there appeared unto them acloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the aHoly Ghost, and began to speak with other btongues, as the cSpirit gave them utterance.

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

  • Acts 4:1-23

AND as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the aresurrection from the dead.

And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.

Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about afive thousand.

¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and ascribes,

And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high apriest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what apower, or by what bname, have ye done this?

Then Peter, filled with the aHoly Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

     If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the aname of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

This is the astone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Neither is there asalvation in any other: for there is none other bname under heaven given among men, whereby we must be csaved.

¶ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were aunlearned and bignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable amiracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

And they called them, and acommanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to ahearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

For we cannot but aspeak the things which we have bseen and heard.

So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

¶ And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

  • Acts 5:1-10

BUT a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, asold a possession,

And akept back bpart of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain cpart, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to alie to the Holy Ghost, and to bkeep back part of the price of the land?

Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not alied unto men, but unto bGod.

And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and agave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to atempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

Then fell she down astraightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

  • Acts 5:17-19

¶ Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with aindignation,

And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

But the aangel of the Lord by night opened the bprison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

  • Acts 6:1-6

AND in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their awidows were bneglected in the daily cministration.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of ahonest breport, full of the Holy Ghost and cwisdom, whom we may appoint over this dbusiness.

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the aministry of the word.

¶ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they achose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the bHoly Ghost, and cPhilip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they alaid their bhands on them.

  • Acts 6:8

And Stephen, full of faith and apower, did great wonders and bmiracles among the people.

  • Acts 7:60

And he kneeled down, and acried with a loud voice, bLord, lay not this sin to their ccharge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

  • Acts 12:1-2

NOW about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

And he akilled bJames the brother of John with the sword.

  • Acts 12:5-11

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

And, behold, the aangel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

And he went out, and followed him; and awist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

  • Acts 15:5-29

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the alaw of Moses.

¶ And the aapostles and belders came together for to consider of this matter.

And when there had been much adisputing, bPeter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the cGentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the dgospel, and believe.

     And God, which aknoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

And put no adifference between us and them, bpurifying their hearts by faith.

Now therefore why atempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

But we believe that through the agrace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

¶ Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

¶ And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the aGentiles, to take out of them a people for his bname.

And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

After this I will return, and will build again the atabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

That the aresidue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

aKnown unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

But that we write unto them, that they aabstain from bpollutions of idols, and from cfornication, and from things strangled, and from dblood.

For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being aread in the synagogues every sabbath day.

Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

And they awrote bletters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be acircumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

It seemed good unto us, being assembled with aone accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

Men that have ahazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

     For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

That ye abstain from meats offered to aidols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
