GOLGOTHA

A prominent tradition holds that the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified near here.

This rock resembles a skull and is just outside of Jerusalem’s Damascus Gate. This is a traditional site for the place where Jesus Christ was crucified.

Significant Events:
After Jesus was scourged and mocked, he was brought to “a place called Golgotha, . . . a place of a skull,” where he was crucified (Matt. 27:26-35; John 19:17-18). (See Bible Dictionary, “Golgotha.”)
