A model that a person can follow to obtain certain results. In the scriptures, pattern usually means an example either for living a certain way or for building something.

The Lord commanded Israel to build a tabernacle according to the pattern shown to Moses, Ex. 25. David gave Solomon the pattern for building the temple, 1 Chr. 28: 11-13. In me Jesus Christ might shew a pattern to them which should believe on him, 1 Tim. 1: 16. I will give unto you a pattern in all things, that ye may not be deceived, D&C 52: 14.
