Great Are the Words of Isaiah
The Signs of Jesus Christ

The Scriptures have many prophecies given in them concerning the Messiah, who is Jesus Christ and who is the same as the God of the Old Testament Jehovah. From the writing from the beginning the scriptures speak of our Lord God, Jesus Christ, who is the same God as Jehovah. The book of Abraham, the books of Moses and all the writings of the Holy Prophets do speak of God, Jehovah, who is the same as Jesus Christ. And there are many signs and words written foretelling the coming and the works of the promised Messiah of the Covenant and that which he will do for the benefit of mankind.

When Jesus visited the Nephites at Bountiful in America, he spake of one of the greatests of these prophets who did write concerning the signs, works and prophecies of Jesus Christ, the Blessed and Promised Messiah. Jesus even gave a commandment specifically in respect to the writtings and words of Isaiah:

"Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah. For surely he spake as touching all things concerning my people which are of the house of Israel; therefore it must needs be that he must speak also to the Gentiles. And all things that he spake have been and shall be, even according to the words which he spake."

The Jews of Jesus day had studied the prophets and particularly the words and prophecies of Isaiah. And though Moses and all the prophets spoke concerning Jesus, it was the writings of Isaiah that were examined to most in the efforts of looking foreward to the coming of the Messiah and all the things that he would do. And they understood that in order for one to be the true Messiah, among all the prophets, it was the words of Isaiah that were most often used as a standard and measure as to whether a candidate was in truth the promised Messiah. And they would look and see if one would so live after those signs and words given of him that would without doubt identify just who it was that was the Promised Messiah. At the time of Isaiah, Israel had not yet departed and was confederate with Assyria. So the prophecy of the virgin birth given by Isaiah was positioned and give as a 'sign from the Lord himself' stated in terms of that present day set of circumstance when Judah was vexed by that union between Damascus and Samaria and even Elath or Ezion-Gerber had been over taken and assumed by that confederation against the kingdom of Judah (2 Kings 16:6['unto this day'- meaning the Babylonian era, so Elath in the time of Lehi was still under such Syria/Samaria related control even until after 600 B.C.]).

"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign—Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest [Damascus & Samaria (Isa. 8:4)] shall be forsaken of both her kings." ~ Isaiah 7:14-16; 2 Nephi 17:14-16
    ~
"Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." ~ Matthew 1:23

Isaiah did so prophesy in the name of the Lord and the angel Gabriel, who is Noah, did confirm the prophecy to Joseph in a dream to Joseph according to the record of Matthew. And the annunciation by the same angel Gabriel to Mary was delivered and the event did occur as recorded in the record of Luke.

"And in the sixth month [of Elisabeth's term] the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Luke 1:26-35

The Virgin Birth

Now God is greater than man. Yet man in his pride thinks to know and do more than God is able to do? Mary had not and would never know a man until after Jesus' birth. That is why it is a Virgin Birth. Many mock how that is possible and cast doubts. Yet meager mere men of very limited knowledge and ability in comparision to God can do it. Artificial insemination makes it very possible for a 'virgin', a girl who has never known a man, to give birth to a child. Now if little man can achieve that, certainly such and even greater is to be done by God. The brief record states all that is needful to be understood. JESUS was the Son of the Highest — the Son of God. How is that possible? Well for man or woman to be in the presence of God, 'The Highest', they have to be within the protection of the Holy Ghost. NOT that the Holy Ghost is the Father, but is that Spirit Power by which God operates with man, and by which men, prophets and even women can even stand in the presence of God. The scripture states 1) The Holy Ghost came upon Mary and 2) then the power of the Highest did overshadow her. And by that vastly higher power, ability and knowledge of God, the Father empowered a 'conception' within Mary of a child which was His Son. Mary was still a virgin and still had never known a man until after the birth of her son Jesus, but certainly if lowly men can make such happen, most suredly God in all his power, ability and understanding can cause such to also occur and by a much higher level of process than what is being done by lowly men today, though it ought to give us some understanding that surely such is totally possible, especially by God.

The Name JESUS

Now as set forth in the 'Ecclesiastical History of the Church' written by Bishop Eusebius Pamphili of Caeserea Palistine/Maritima, of the 'name titles' of the promised Messiah, Aaron would be given the honor to be called 'The Anointed One' as to the dignity of the high priesthood to which is attached for the sake of honor and glory the name of Christ.' (Book I, Chapter 3, Paragraph 2) And upon Oshea, the son of Nun, Moses bestowed upon him that identifying name title of 'JESUS' or as it where in its most proper Hebrew tranliterated form given as JEHOSHUA or Joshua. (Book I, Chapter 3, Paragraph 3 - Numbers 13:16) Thus it was that the son of Nun and Aaron, the High Priest, were given at a new name those two parts of the known name of 'Jesus Christ' - 'Jehoshua Messiah [The Anointed One]' that had been so given and bestowed upon Jehovah, the first born son of the Father [Elohim] from the preexistent time (Zechariah 3 & Moses 5; 6; 7:) And that was so named by the Father upon Jehovah the name of 'Jehoshua', meaning 'Jehovah - Deliverer [Savior]' and the Anointed One or Messiah/Christ as to the fact that the Father at that previous time the so 'anoint and empower Jehovah' with the full power of the consecration on him of the priesthood or Power of God, by which, according to the record of John, did the 'Word' create the temporal creation of the heavens and earth in concert with and under the direction of God the Father of Spirits, even Elohim. And this understanding of the 'Godhead' tinity was possessed and taught by Bishop Eusebius before and at the first council of Nicea. But it had become corrupted by the followers of Alexander and his student Athanaius of Egypt.

Unto Us a Child Is Born

To simply graps the next prophecy of Jesus Christ clearly stated by Isaiah, one should come to understand the reality that Jesus Christ of the New Testament is and was the same person, being and entity as Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament. It is Jehovah who is the God born unto us as Jesus Christ. And again we may turn to Bishop Eusebius learned guidance to comprehend the matter. In Book 1, Chapter 2 of the Ecclesiastical History of the Church by Bishop Eusebius, it is plainly taught the relationship between Jehovah-Jesus-the Word and God the Father. And it is there stated that according to John's gospel chapter 1 the very first verses, that in the preexistent beginning was the Word (Jesus/Jehovah) and that he was then at the time God, that is he had been anointed and ordained with the power of God, the priesthood of God by which he would create the temporal heavens and earth in concert with and under the direction of God the Father. And after that order of 'director' and 'performer', All things were made by him (Jesus/Jehovah); and without him was not anything made.' Only those who pretend that the Father of Spirits, Elohim and Jesus the 'first-born' Word in the spirit was the same person. This simple relationship is clearified by the order of performances as had in the administration of the temple/tabernacle of Moses as set out by God. And it is summarized in Lev. 16:32, which states:

"And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:"

The order of the temple was after the order of heaven. And the 'high priest' who was to perform the make the atonement was to be anointed and consecrated to minister in his position 'in his father's stead'. That is the mediator, the intercessor, the advocate with the Father who stands between and Father and man and is set as the only path and way by which man may be saved, was to perform the atonement in the father's, his Father's stead. As Jesus of the New Testament, as Jehovah of the Old Testament, he stands between the Highest, the Father and man as their mediator, their intercessor and their advocate between man and the Father, Elohim. Only in, through and by him, Jesus/Jehovah, as he act for, by and in the stead of the Father, to the intent and purpose of the Father, Elohim is the work between heaven and earth accomplished. And being and acting in the name and in the stead of the Father in all things, Jesus-Jehovah thereby presumes the invested power and name of the Father, though not the father, just that he is so empowered by the Father to act in the stead of the Father in all things. With this proper relationship we may now view the prophecy of the Son, the child which Isaiah does pronounce:

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." ~ Isaiah 9:6/ 2 Nephi 19:6

As the new born mortal son of Mary, the he might die, the God of Spirit, Jehovah, was born as the Only Begotten Son of the Father, that by being His Son, he might have the Power of the Father to rise from the Dead and live, resurrected spirit again to body, and complete the work of the atonement, that as in Adam all did come to once die, even so in, through and by Jesus Christ, his atoning sacrafice, might live again and be immortal and receive of eternal life through, by and in Jesus Christ, the Son of God the Father. And thus the Son is glorified as having done all that was given for him to do by the Father. And therein, as standing in the stead of the Father he is also as One with the Father to be so also highly addressed as that 'his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.'

Sometimes we just fail to read the words as they are printed to be said. Yes, in one perspective all was so 'conditional' that it could be said that he 'shall be' called; but even then also with the understanding of God, he would not fail and so it was in the manner of the prophetic perfect tense that he also was as well as that he shall be called Wounderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. In one perspective Jesus did rise from a child of the flesh to the lofty position of standing on the right hand of God the Father. And at the same time, as the long time Spirit Son of the father, first born in the spirit before every creature, he had also been previously so empowered, anointed and endowed with the powers to be, that is he was always so empowered by God to be Our Savior and Lord God unto Salvation and Exhaltation. And what he hath created so he has thus redeemed, by and through and with the power of God the Father, which he had received of the Father, by the Father and from the Father.

This day is this scripture afulfilled in your ears. 16 ¶ And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The aSpirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath banointed me to cpreach the dgospel to the epoor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to fpreach gdeliverance to the hcaptives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at iliberty them that are bruised, 19 aTo preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture afulfilled in your ears. 22 And all bare him witness, and awondered at the bgracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this cJoseph's son? 23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in aCapernaum, bdo also here in thy country. 24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is aaccepted in his own country. 25 But I tell you of a truth, many awidows were in Israel in the days of bElias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; 26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. 27 And many alepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was bcleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. 28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. 30 But he apassing through the midst of them went his way, 31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. 32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with apower. (New Testament | Luke 4:16 - 32) CHAPTER 61 Isaiah speaks Messianically—Messiah shall have the Spirit, preach the gospel, and proclaim liberty—In the last days the Lord will call his ministers and make an everlasting covenant with the people. 1 THE aSpirit of the Lord bGOD is upon me; because the LORD hath canointed me to dpreach egood tidings unto the fmeek; he hath sent me to gbind up the brokenhearted, to hproclaim iliberty to the jcaptives, and the opening of the kprison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of avengeance of our God; to bcomfort all that cmourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them abeauty for ashes, the oil of bjoy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called ctrees of drighteousness, the eplanting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. (Old Testament | Isaiah 61:Heading - 3) CHAPTER 42 Isaiah speaks Messianically—The Lord shall bring his law and his judgment, be a light to the Gentiles, and free the prisoners—Praise ye the Lord. 1 BEHOLD my aservant, whom I uphold; mine belect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have cput my dspirit upon him: he shall bring forth ejudgment to the Gentiles. 2 He shall not cry, nor alift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the asmoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. 4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the aisles shall wait for his law. 5 ¶ Thus saith God the LORD, he that acreated the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth bbreath unto the people upon it, and cspirit to them that dwalk therein: 6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a acovenant of the people, for a blight of the cGentiles; 7 To aopen the bblind eyes, to bring out the cprisoners from the dprison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. 9 Behold, the aformer things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell byou of them. 10 aSing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. 11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. (Old Testament | Isaiah 42:Heading - 11)
