LDS TEMPLES

Family ties are meant to be forever. When speaking of the earth and God's intent concerning it, the prophet Malachi stated that the prophet Elijah must return before the Second Coming, that is the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he stated that that which Elijah would do was 'he shall turn the heart of the father to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I (Jesus Christ) come and smite the earth with a curse' (see Malachi 4:5-6). When the angel Moroni visited Joseph Smith, he quoted or paraphrased Malachi and stated it this way: "And he [Elijah] shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fahters. If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his [Jesus Christ] coming" (PGP Joseph Smith History verse 39). Relative to this in the Doctrine and Covenants, Joseph Smith reported this: " ... neither can we without our dead be made perfect ... " and " ... the earth will be smitten with a curse unless there is a welding link of some kind or other between the fathers and the children ... " (D&C 128:15 & 18).

Now this link between the fathers and their children consists of the 'sealing' of families one to the other beginning with Eternal Marriage and the children so sealed to their parents. This is a major purpose of the temple and the work done therein. As husbands and wifes and their children are sealed on back to Adam and thus to God, the whole of the human family becomes welded together by virtue of the power and priesthood of God in that Eternal Patriarchal Order of Heaven. And thus we by the ordiances of the temple may be sealed for not only time but all eternity, our individual families back and to the eternal family of God, thus joining heaven and earth and mankind thereof unto that Heavenly Father, our Eternal Father forever. The New Zealand temple is where my wife and I were so sealed, eternally married and our children, our posterity, with us.

On the 20th of December, 1969, Rosie, that is Fualosa, and I were so married and sealed for time and all eternity. Because the New Zealand law at that time did not recognize the LDS Temple Marriage as a legal marriage in the country of New Zealand, we were first civilly married in the Temple View visitor center accross the street from the front of the New Zealand Temple, then we crossed the road and entered into the Temple, and there we were again married, this time by the power and authority of God in one of His temples for time and all eternity.
