Whether as school, at a relative's place, or even hired out for domistic work some place, as the possiblities are quite endless for her not being home. And at this point it is good to speak of just why Elizabeth Toms who marries Richard Peter Davey is the daughter of this Thomas Toms and Honour Parson. The real tie in does not come to light until the 1881 census when they are in Somerset on what is most likely a circuit assignment. On that census, which will be displayed below, Elizabeth's father, Thomas Toms is visiting with the family. His relationship is stated as F-in-law or father in law to the head of house, that is he is the wife's father. He is 75 years old in 1881, a retired farmer, and born at Duloe Parish. That Thomas who was born in Duloe is the same that is the son of John Toms and Sarah Bettinson who was baptized in Duloe in 1806. And the 1851 Census connects this Thomas Toms as being the same as the husband of Honour. He there being a farmer, born in Duloe, then age 45. The 1841 census displays their two children, Mary Ann Toms age 6 and Elizabeth then age 5, meaning she was born in 1836, which she was.
