JOHN WORLEY AND THE VARIOUS ASSOCIATED TITLES ANALYZED

There are a number of 'titles' so associated with the name of 'John Worley'. An analysis of these titles and so when and where and in what combinations they are used would likely be somewhat enlightening. Just what these title are, what they mean and just how 'interchangable' they might be in refering to one or more of the various John Worley's of this era in the history of North Carolina ought to be investigated and determined what if anything might be deduced from them.

A listing of these titles at the first take are five such titles and then a sixth 'non-title' element ought to also be so considered. These five titles are 'Esq.' [Esquire], 'Cap. or Capt.' [Captain], 'Col. or Colo. etc.' [Colonel], 'Sr. or Snr.' [Senior], 'Jr. or Jnr.' [Junior], and then the 'null' title or the name used with no immediate such title attached. There there are a bunch of temporary positional entitlements which may come and go with an assigned position whether in the church of in such legal or civil service, which will only be alluded to but separate from a tabular form of the six such analyzed titles or lack thereof. So to this end a chronical and logistical tracking of these will be tabulated in six columns with such details as may be so associted with the title when used such as time, date and other logistical positionments.

Now there is a possible flaw in this analysis to the degree which people may have so accumulated such title associations from various source and the degree of source accuracy with which they have done so. For there is the danger that such persons might well go beyond the record facts so given from actual source data and attempt to add their own accompanying titles in order to promote their of subjective interpretations of those facts into that which they have in their own minds so inovated them to be without any actual cause of record fact. Some may even think they are aiding in the understanding of John Worley by doing so, but they are only so arbitrarially manipulating the facts of the matter by doing to to arrive at their own preferred interpretations rather than to allow the facts in their objective source matterial make an unbiased report of a matter or situation or event.

Even then, from the pen of the originator of the record their is some added subjectivity possible and indeed so in respect to those titles which may well be perspective related, such as Sr. and Jr. And this because one set John Worleys' relationships are but father and son related. That is one John Worley might well be a Jr. to another John Worley who is his father. But then again that same John Worley might turn around again and have his own son John Worley which would make of him once Jr. to his father, now the relative Sr. to his own son by that same name. Thus some objectively supplied deduction must be determined in such cases where one or more such titles may apply to differing John Worleys the same.
