Well it seems to check out. At least I've found all the dates and people in place to make it so. From John Adams the son of John Adams and Joan Hill comes this descent. And it fills in the 'rest of the story' concerning our half cousin John Adams. I have further data on the Couch line in Devon but still not sure how John came there to marry Joan Couch. Certainly the 'Couch' name came from somewhere.

That the Adams and Couch family were tied together is proven in the National Archives of property
proceedings. And an additional tie in is also placed at the end of the Hill Family Page,
where it can be shown that the Joan Couch that married John Adams was not only of the Couch family
of Iddesleigh, Devon, but further that John Adams and Joan Couch were actually cousins, their
mothers Joan Hill and Mary Hill being the daughters of Nicholas Hill.

(1) and (2) now possess in common estates at Tregare in Egloskerry, late in
    possession of Geo. Hill, decd., one granted by Thos. Long of Penheale, the
    other by Jn. Speckot Long of Penheale, the other by Millicent Philips of
    St. Neot, wid., all for 99 yr. terms. Agree to divide premises for their
    separate use and enjoyment.
(1) to (2): £8.
(1) to have estate granted by Jn. Speckot Long
(2) to have estate granted by Thos. Long
(1) to have (out of Philips estate) that part of dwelling-house being on higher side
    of entry, part of Hall, higher part of barn, the fore-courtlage and the hogs'-

    lesser tithes, and common of pasture on Tregeare Downs, all now in occ. of (2).
