Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, March 1841, concerning the saints in the Territory of Iowa. HC 4:311—312.
1—4, The saints are to build cities and to gather to the stakes of Zion.
D&C 125:1 What is the will of the Lord concerning the saints in the Territory of Iowa?
D&C 125:2 Verily, thus saith the Lord, I say unto you, if those who acall themselves by my name and are essaying to be my saints, if they will do my will and keep my commandmentsa concerning them, let them gather themselves together unto the places which I shall appoint unto them by my servant Joseph, and build up cities unto my name, that they may be prepared for that which is in store for a time to come.

2a essaying to be my saints, if they will do my will and keep my commandments Mere 'membership' in the church is no guarantee of being numbered with the 'saints' of the Lord. The 'Lord's people' are those who do the will of the Lord according to the mind and will of the Lord; they are they who keep the commandments of the Lord. Taking upon one's self the name of Christ is more than mere 'lip service'. It is a matter of doing and meeking following the way of the Lord. Unfortunately, many early members of the restored church were what is called 'members in name only'. They fained membership, but when it came down to doing the will of the Lord as commanded by his prophet Joseph Smith and later Brigham Young and others, their 'fained membership' was soon exposed by their lack of obedience to the word, guidance and direction of the Lord.  2a TG Jesus Christ, Taking the Name

D&C 125:3 Let them build up a city unto my name upon the land opposite the city of Nauvoo, and let the name of aZarahemlaa be named upon it.

3a Zarahemla The ancient city of Zarahemla was the capital city of the Nephite nation of Zarahemla. Like its proposed name-sake city, which was upon the western bank of the river Sidon in the land of Zarahemla, this Zarahemla would be upon the western bank of the Mississippi river. With Nauvoo upon the east bank and the proposed Zarahemla upon the west bank of the Mississippi river, the two cities would be 'twin cities' which would be centers of commerce upon the Mississippi and an asset to the nation.  3a Omni 1:14-18; Alma 2:26

D&C 125:4 And let all those who come from the east, and the west, and the north, and the south, that have desires to dwell therein, take up their inheritance in the same, as well as in the city of aNashville, or in the city of Nauvoo, and in all the bstakes which I have appointed, saith the Lord.
