THE EVERLASTING COVENANT
Part VI
(The Perspective of the Deliverer)
~ JESUS CHRIST IS JEHOVAH
[Part I]
presented by Don R. Hender
"Who [Jesus/Jehovah] being the brightness of his
[Elohim's] glory, and the express image of his
[Elohim's] person, and upholding all things by the word of his
[Elohim's] power, when he [Jesus/Jehovah] had by himself purged our sins,
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty [Elohim] on high."
~ Hebrews 1:3 ~
"The God"
of the Old Testament, JEHOVAH, is the same person and being as JESUS CHRIST.
And despite the various 'traditional' explanations of men about it, there is
NO MYSTERY concerning it. There is only the lack of understanding and the
misguidance of the false innovators and contrivances of men which muddle the
water relative to it.
Jesus performing in that role of the God of the Old Testament, Jehovah, did
but personify the foreshadowed reality set forth in the Hebrew Temple/Tabernacle
ceremony. That is as prescribed by the directions of Moses concerning the
operation of the position of the 'Chief High Priest' of the temple, he was to
be 'anointed and consecrated' to minister in the priest's [Great
High Priest's] office in his
father's stead and that it was he who was acting in the father's
stead who was to make the atonement wearing the holy garments of the
'Great High Priest' (Leviticus 16:32). That instituted ceremonial performance
of the right of 'the
son' to perform in the father's stead was engrained into the temple operation
as it did both represent what had been established in heaven before the
foundation of the earth and was what the reality of the matter was between
'The Father Elohim' and 'His Firstborn Son Jehovah'. This fact has been the
source of much confusion in those who do not or choose to not to understand
the relationship between God the Father of Spirits, Elohim, and His Son, His
Firstborn Son in the Spirit, Jehovah. That is in acting in the stead of the
Father in all things, Jehovah/Jesus Christ, would very often speak the words
of the Father as though he were the Father, being so empowered by the Father
to do so.
Before, or perhaps at that very beginning of the ages of time marked out from
Eternity, that is before the foundation of the world and this temporal
creation; in heaven the Great God Elohim, Our Heavenly Father the Father of
the spirits of all men, set in motion and effect a Plan of Eternal
Progression in behalf of his children. It is and was God's Plan of Happiness.
That plan required a Ministering God and Redeemer to such of the Temporal
Creation. That 'Anointed and Consecrated One' would perform as the Ministering
God to those who would pertain unto such temporal creation, he would
performance of redemption, that is
to redeem all that which he would so create, and effect the Final Judgement
upon that dominion among many other like and such duties and callings.
The Calling, Selection, and Empowerment
Now from revelations and scripture, I will tell the story as a story of that
first grand counsel in heaven before the foundation of the world wherein the
'Calling' was anounced, the 'Selection' was made, and the 'Empowerment' was
accomplished respection Jehovah as he who would stand in the stead of the
Father in all things. God the Father of Spirit who is Elohim did present the
Plan of God for man and the need of one from among His spirit children to
stand in His stead in all things, who would act in the Father's name as the
Father would direct him to do, who would be the linking Ministering God
between heaven and earth and stand at the Advocate, Intercessor and Mediator
between God and man, between Heaven and earth. And further who it was would
would have bestowed upon him the 'brightness or glory of God' and also the
'priesthood and power of God' to act as God by that power of God for the
benefit of man. And also who would take upon himself the sins of the world
that the by that atonement man would be delivered, redeemed and saved that
he may return to the presence of God.
Now in course of such events, God the Father of Spirits, even Elohim, did
speak forth to enlist the 'Deliver' by asking, "Whom
shall I sent?" (Abraham 3:27)
At this enlistment calling all eyes turned to view him whose right it was as
the firstborn son in the spirit, even Jehovah. And as he, Jehovah, was the
express image of the Father, being like unto the Father, that 'Son of Man',
that 'Man of Holiness' who the Father was. Thus Jehovah responded immediatley
and humbly, "Here am I, send me."
(Abraham 3:27)
Then before the Father responded to Jehovah's answer, another, Lucifer, who
was a son of the morning said: "Behold, here am
I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem
all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it,
wherefore give me thine honor." (Moses 4:1; Abrham
3:27)
But God the Father of Spirit, Elohim, knew the heart of Lucifer and that his
entent was not pure for he but sought to ascend into heaven and exalt his own
throne above the stars of God, that he, Lucifer, would sit upon the mount of
the congregation, in the sides of the north, above the heights of the clouds;
to be like the most High if not the most High (Isaiah 14:13-14). And Lucifer's
intent was to remove from man his agency and profit at man's expense (Moses
4:3).
And then God the Father of Spirits Elohim said: "I
will send the first." This taken to mean both he who was first
to respond and also in reference to he who was firstborn and heir, and whose
right and responsibility it was.
To this the Son Jehovah, according to the Father's own report, responded as
the Father said, "But, behold, my Beloved Son, which
was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning said unto me—'Father, thy
will be done, and the glory be thine forever'." (Moses 4:2)
And this confirmed to the Father that Jehovah, His firstborn in the spirit,
only sought the will of God and the benefit of man and true to the work and
the glory of God, which is to bring to past the immortality and eternal life
of man (Moses 1:39).
With the 'Calling and Selection' completed, the Father then Anointed and
Consecrated His Beloved Son, Jehovah, Fore-ordaining and Ordaining him
and Empowering him with the fulness of the power and glory of God, to stand
in the Father's stead in all things, and to administer unto the Children of
Man as their Lord God Jehovah and Savior and Redeemer, even Jesus Christ.
Thus was Jehovah positioned to be 'the only way' that man was to come unto
God. And he was named JESUS or Jehoshua [Joshua], meaning 'Jehovah Deliver'.
The Temporal Creation
Now this 'Election and Empowerment' was before the foundation of the world
and the temporal creation, for as John the Apostles reports:
"IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were
made my him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him
was life; and the life was the light of men." ~ John 1:1-4
And here we come to understand that Jehovah, the firstborn spirit son of God
the Father of Spirits, was ordained and empowered to act and minister unto
the needs of man from the creation, to the atonement, resurrection, final
judgment, and ultimate redemption of man. And thus Jehovah as a 'God of
Spirit', by the empowerment and power of God, did, under the direction and
according to the word of the Father, perform the creation of the temporal
heavens and earth of this creation.
And as the Book of Genesis records, the Lord God Jehovah did this in concert
with the Father, his Father and our Father of our spirits. And for as much
concerning the very creation of man does not the scriptures state:
"¶ And God said, Let us make man in our
image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fist
of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all
the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So
God man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and
female created he them." ~ Genesis 1:26-27
And so it was confirmed to the prophet Mahonri Moriancumr when Jehovah, our
Lord God, appeared unto him in the third chapter of Ether of the Book of
Mormon. For the brother of Jared did see the spirit body of Jehovah, and
Jehovah so stated to him that he [having consulted with Elohim] did create
man in his own image, in the image of his spirit body, for he had not yet
come to earth to obtain his physical body of flesh and bone (see Ether 3
particularly verses 8-16).
A Confirming Voice
Before continuing on to Part II of 'Jesus Christ Is Jehovah', I would like
to here present a confirming voice from early Christianity which confirms
this true perspective of Jesus Christ as Jehovah and also of Elohim being
his separate and distinct Heavenly Father, and that the creation was performed
by the Son Jehovah under the directing word of God the Father, even Elohim.
Thus the following account is from the Church History written by Bishop
Eusebius of Caesarea in early 300s A.D. before the Nicean Creed.
"For who besides the Father could clearly understand the Light which was
before the world, the intellectual and essential Wisdom which existed before
the ages, the living Word which was in the beginning with the Father and
which was God, the first and only begotten of God which was before every
creature and creation visible and invisible, the commander-in-chief of the
rational and immortal host of heaven, the messenger of the great counsel,
the executor of the Father's unspoken will, the creator, with the Father of
all things, the second cause of the universe after the Father, the true and
only-begotten Son of God, the Lord and God and King of all created things,
the one who has received dominion and power, with divinity itself, and with
might and honor from the Father; as it is said in regard to him in the
mystical passages of Scripture which speak of his divinity: "In the beginning
was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
"All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made." This,
too, the great Moses teaches, when, as the most ancient of all the prophets,
he describes under the influence of the divine Spirit the creation and
arrangement of the universe. He declares that the maker of the world and the
creator of all things yielded to Christ himself, and to none other than his
own clearly divine and first-born Word, the making of inferior things, and
communed with him respecting the creation of man.
"For," says he, "God said, Let us make man in our image and in our likeness."
And another of the prophets confirms this, speaking of God in his hymns as
follows: "He spake and they were made; he commanded and they were created."
He here introduces the Father and Maker as Ruler of all, commanding with a
kindly nod, and second to him the divine Word, none other than the one who is
proclaimed by us, as carrying out the Father's commands. All that are said to
have excelled in righteousness and piety since the creation of man, the great
servant Moses and before him in the first place Abraham and his children, and
as many righteous men and prophets as afterward appeared, have contemplated
him with the pure eyes of the mind, and have recognized him and offered to
him the worship which is due him as Son of God."
(Ecclesiastical History of the Church, Bishop Eusebius of Caesarea,
Book I, Chapter 2, Para. 2-4)

[Though spoke in somewhat differing terminology and perhaps perspective,
the truth of understanding comes out in Bishop Eusebius of Caesarea's
historical texts, only a portion of which is quoted from here. Bishop
Eusebius would seem to have a grasp of the concept of Intelligence or
Intelligences as he speaks of 'the intellectual and essential Wisdom which
existed before the ages. He may have mixed the concepts of 'firstborn'
and only begotten, but he does understand that Jesus as Jehovah is the
'firstborn of every creature and creation' which can only allude to Jehovah's
preexistent spirit birth before the foundation of the world. Eusebius also
speaks of the 'great counsel' in heaven, but without much detail other
than it took place before the creation and what he calls the 'second cause
of the universe' which directly relates to that which we refer to the 'Second
Estate'.
Eusebius also clearly sets out Jehovah, the Son of God, as King of all created
things and puts forth thant without him was not any thing made. Eusebius has
a true concept of the matter of God the Father, Elohim, directing Jehovah
the Son who is Jesus Christ, in the matters of creation down to the very
matter of creating Adam and Even in the Gods' own image. Etcetera.]
