CHAPTER 33
Moses blesses tribes of Israel—Levi blessed to teach the Lord's
judgments and his law—Joseph blessed above all; he shall gather
Israel in latter days—Israel shall triumph.
|
Moses blesses tribes—Ephraim, the 'firstling' of Joseph in the
covenant is symbolized by the bullock which bullock is the sacrifical
firstborn of the day of atonement, Christ being the legal and rightful heir
of Ephraim—Thus Joseph is blessed above all and his descendants, headed
by Christ, shall gather Israel—Israel through Ephraim shall triumph.

1 AND this is the blessing, wherewith
aMoses the bman of God
cblessed the children of dIsrael before
his death.
2 And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up
from Seir unto them; he ashined forth from mount
bParan, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his
right hand went a fiery law for them.
3 Yea, he loved the people; all his
asaints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy
bfeet; every one shall receive of thy words.

Let thy Thummim and thy bUrim be with thy

cstrive at the waters of dMeribah;
9 Who said aunto his father and to
his mother, I bhave not seen him; neither did he
acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed
thy word, and kept thy covenant.
10 They shall ateach Jacob thy
bjudgments, and Israel thy law: they shall put incense
before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thine altar.
11 Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.

Blessing of Joseph

13 ¶ And of aJoseph he said,
Blessed of the LORD be his
blanda, for the
cprecious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep
that coucheth beneath,
14 And for the precious fruits brought forth
by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon,
15 And for the chief things of the ancient
mountainsa,
and for the precious things of the lasting
ahillsb,

13a Blessed of the LORD be his
land Joseph's land is considered by many to be the 'two' shares
of land possessed by Joseph's sons Ephraim and Manasseh in the Holy Land,
Joseph being the heir of Jacob of the birthright (Joshua 14:4, Ezkiel 47:13).
And that promised land of
Abraham and Jacob would be considered to be the right of Jospeh (Abraham
1:16; Gensis 28:4, 13-14). But in truth, Ephraim and
Manasseh were adopted by Jacob and the Holy Land lands of inheritance fell
directly to Ephraim and Manasseh from Jacob. Yet as a type of salvation
brought by Joseph, in Egypt, in that 'other land', Joseph brought temporal
salvation to all the nations not just the house of Israel. So it will be in
terms of spiritual salvation (Ether 13:7). Out of Zion will go out the Law
unto salvation
from the everlasting hills of the land of Joseph. From the tops of the
mountains will the precious jewels of eternal salvation be meated out to all
who will but receive them. But to the extend of the whole earth will the
promise eventually apply, as Israel is those of the Lord who prevail and
inherits the earth and the fulness thereof. Indeed is Joseph a fruitful
bough that crosses over the wall into all the world to the end of the
blessing of it under the Everlasting Covenant and the Covenant of Abraham.
For the whole of the earth is the Lord's (Ps. 97:5) and the whole earth
will be filled with His glory (Ps. 72:19; Isa. 6:3 (2 Ne. 16:3; Isa. 14:26;
Isa. 54:5; Daniel 2:36; Micah 4:13; Zech. 4:14; 3 Nephi 11:14; 3 Nephi 22:5
(Isa. 54:5); Ps. 24:1; Ps. 89:11; 1 Cor. 10:26, 28; ).

fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the
abush: let the bblessing
come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that
was separated from his brethren.
17 His aglory is like the
firstling of his bullocka,
and his horns are like the horns of bunicorns: with
them he shall cpush the people together to the ends of the
earth: and they are the ten thousands of dEphraim,
and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

26 ¶ There is none like unto the God of
aJeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help,
and in his bexcellency on the sky.
27 The aeternal God is thy

and he shall thrust out the cenemy from before thee; and

|
28 aIsrael then shall dwell in
bsafety alone: the cfountain of Jacob
shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his
dheavens shall drop down dew.
  29 aHappy art thou, O
Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the
bshield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy
cexcellency! and thine enemies shall dbe
found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their
ehigh places.
