         CHAPTER 132

A Messianic Psalm—Of the fruit of David's loins will the Lord set One upon his throne—The Lord will bless Zion, and her saints shall shout for joy.

A Song of degrees.

  3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

  6 Lo, we heard of it at Ephrataha: we found it in the fields of athe wood.
  7 We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
  8 Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
 6a we heard of it at Ephratah It does seem of a peculiar interest that those Jews who persist in the making of the one Messiah into two, are not so consistant upon the matters of Ephratath, but unto that which does suit their purpose. For when this psalm which conveys that from the fruit of David's loins would God set One upon his throne, meaning and implying the coming of Christ to be that King of David's seed, that those who make a Messiah ben Joseph apart from Messiah ben David do make this 'Ephratah to refer to Ephraim, Joseph and Joshua. For they say of it that 'we heard about it in Efrata,' does refer to Joshua from the tribe of Ephraim (Zevachim 54b). Now does Ephratah (Efrata) speak of the Jews or of Ephraim? In Ruth, that make it to be that Elimelech, Mahlon and Chilion, 'Ephrathites' are but paternal kinsmen of Boaz and also Jews. But if Ephratah is of Joshua and Ephraim then how is it so? They must be 'maternal' kinsmen of Ephraim, related to Boaz the Jew by a maternal marriage relationship as were Mary of David and Elisabeth of Levi so cousins in the New Testament. Further, that Ephratah is of Ephraim bring much light upon the scriputre in Micah 5:2 which makes Jesus to beborn of Bethlehem Ephratah, meaning he is of Ephraim and not of Judah also.   11 The LORD hath sworn in truth unto aDavid; he will not turn from it; Of the bfruit of thy body will I set upon thy cthrone.
  12 If thy achildren will keep my bcovenant and my ctestimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy dthrone for evermore.
  13 For the LORD hath chosen aZion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
  14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
  15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her apoor with bread.
  16 I will also aclothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall bshout aloud for joy.
  17 There will I make the ahorn of bDavid to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
  18 His enemies will I clothe with ashame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
