of Badharlick in the
parish of Egloskerry & County of Cornwall Yeoman Being weak of
Body but perfect in Mind & Memory Thanks be to Almighty God| Do
make & ordain this my last Will & Testament in Mannor & form
following IMP. I give & bequeath my Soul into the hands of
Almighty God hoping through the moritorious Death and passion of
my beloved Saviour Jesus Christ to have free pardon & forgiveness
of all my Sins and my Body to be Decently interred at the
Discretion of my Executrix hereafter name

Bath the Sum of twelve pounds to be paid him at
the End of one year after my Desease
Item I give unto John
Bath Son of my Brother Roger Bath the Sum of Six pounds to
be paid him at the End of one year after my Decease
Item I give unto Mary the
Daughter of my Brother Roger Bath the Sum of six pounds to
be paid her at the End of one year after my Desease

Six pounds to be likewise paid her at the End of one year after

desire that if any or Either of the Eight Children of my Brother
abovenamed Should dye before the End of one year after my Decease
that then his, her or their parts So dying Shall Descend to the
four last Children that are abovementioned or the remaining parts
of them that Shall be then living and be amongst them equally
divided
Item I give unto Thomas Prest of Trovallott the Sum of
forty shillings to be paid at the end of one year after my
decease
Item I give unto Alice Prest and Grace Prest Daughters
of the Sd. Thomas Prest five Shillings Each to be paid them at
the End of one year after my decease

Rawls & Alice Rawls Daughters of Edward Rawls of Badharlick the
Sum of five Shillings Each to be paid at the End of one year
after my decease
Item I give unto Grace Prest the Wife of Edward
Prest of the parish of _ttorham the Sum of Forty Shillings to be
paid her at the End of one year afer my Decease
Item I give unto
Elizabeth Daughter of Jonas Williams of this parish thirty
Shillings provided she continues to serve me & my executrix
honestly & faithfully untill she Shall arrive unto the age of one
& Twenty years according to her Indenture But if it happen that I
& my Executrix both dye before Shall arrive to the age one &
Twenty Years that then the Said Sum of Thirty Shillings Shall be
paid her & her Indenture Delivered up to her by the person that
my Executrix Shall appoint
Item I give unto Anne the Wife of
John Froan of this parish who was formerly my Servant Maid the
Sum of five Shillings to be paid her at the End of one year after
my Decease
Item I give unto the poor Labourers of this parish of
Egloskerry that have no Weekly pay the Sum of twenty shillings to
be paid at the End of one year after my Decease at the Descresion
of my Executrix hereafter named
And it is likewise my Will &
Desire to make Sarah my wife
and Edward Prest of the parish of
_tterham Trustees & Guardians of this my last Will & Testament in
the part & behalf of Roddigun,
Sarah,
Roger &
Joan the four youngest
of the children of my Brother Roger Bath which are all
under Age to Dispose of their ____________ & their best
Discresion & to the Children's best Advantage
All the rest of my
goods & Chattles & whatsoever Else I dye possessed of I give &
bequeath unto my Said Wife Sarah
Bath whom I make whole & Sole
Executrix of this my last Will & Testament and after the Death of
my Said Wife I give all my Goods both quick & _______ unto
Margaret the Daughter of my
Brother Roger
Bath but if She Chances
to Dye before my Said Wife then the Goods are to be Equally
Divided among the rest of my Brother Roger
Bath's Children And my
Estate in Badharlick after my Said Wife I give unto my brother
Roger Bath During his life
In Wittness whereof I have hereunto

Degory Bath's wife looks to be Sarah Prest a 'widdow', perhaps the wife of William Prest who died
and was buried 26 January 1693, over a year before she married Degory 31 October 1694. She would
have been Sarah 'Hopper/Hooper" and the 'Prest' family members named in Degory's will would have
been those who likely were related to Sarah through her first marriage to William Prest/Priest?
The will of Degory Bath names 8 of the 10 children of his brother Roger Bath, with and no children
of his own. The presumption is that by the date of the will's writing, Roger's other two children
were deceased, namely the first Roger Bath and a Degory Bath, both shown below from parish records.
Also shown here is the further information from the will of John Bath,
which names those highlighted in YELLOW.
