*** The older significance of land descriptions and titles is pretty much lost today. There are a few names that have survived but not in the recognizable ways they were spoken of back in the 1700s. Today if you look for Treween in Cornwall it will place you to the East of Altarnun, between Altarnun and Launceston. What is left of Treween of Liskeard is but a 'Trewen Cider House' holiday rental. And if you look for East Looe, it is just down by the Ocean at the mouth of the Looe River. But the Looe river's beginnings are in the inward locals north and inland of the little East and West Looe of today. As the east branch of the Looe River heads inland it marks a line into the land that divides and marks the Looe River lands. ***Treween by East Looe stated by this will is better considered as being in the "Looe Valley" east of the East Looe River branch as it passes Duloe on it way towards St Keyne and looks out to the east upon the inland "Looe Valley" were the Treween or Trewen of Liskeard lies in that inland valley well north into the Liskeard marked out Parish boundry of today. In fact the two Moon Family Wills stated lands of Treween/Trewen and Trehere. On the old drawn survey maps both may be seen, Treween as Higher and Lower Treween and Trehere as Treheer or Trehere. And today, is looked for under the names of "Trehere Cottage" and "Trewen Cider House", they still may be found generally where they were in the 1700s but quite different today.
The significance of this will, combined with all the other source document accumulated, is that it unquestionably identifies who Elizabeth Moreshead, the mother of Jenny Moon is and which Morshead family she does belong to. Identified in the will is my 6th great grandmother, Elizabeth Morshead whose maiden name is Pyne, sometimes written as Pine, which suggests how the name is pronounced. Also named is my 5th great grandmother Jenny Moon [Moreshead] and my 5th great grandfather Edward Moon, and this set of parent's son Nicholas Moon, who is my 4th great grandfather. This alone settles some lingering wonderments some have had and nails the facts of the matter down solid as to who these great grands are and how they are certainly related to each other. Nicholas 'is' the son of Edward Moon and his wife 'Jenny Moon [Morshead]'

Also by the will identifying Elizabeth's two daughters, Jenny Moon and Mary Snell, and none others, and with the naming of two of Mary Snell's children, Mary Snell and Denzil Snell we are able to specifically identify who Elizabeth Morshead [Pyne/Pine] is, who her Morshead husband was, and the fact that Jenny's name is a 'nickname' for her birth name Jane Morshead, and that Mary was not a Morshead but a natural born daughter of Elizabeth Pyne and some other unidentified person. What pieces this all together are the available Christian baptism parish records available for everybody and their related parish marriage records. To actually 'see' this visually a visit to the Morshead Page and the pedigrees there which this will and these other records solidify. And also to confirm how the Moon family fits in the Moon Family Page ought to be opened as well as the will of Jenny Moon which solidly connects this Jenny Moon to that Elizabeth Morshead whose will this page has transcribed. In fact to get the big picture all four pages ought to opened and viewed together in different separate browser windows. - Sorry you 'pad', 'tablet' and 'smart phone' users can't do that without having four separate devices. -

Let me just summarize what all the evidence of the wills, baptism, marriages and burial records do prove. Elizabeth Pyne, the daughter of Denzil Pyne and his wife Jane became pregnant out of wedlock and had her first daughter Mary Pyne/Pine. A couple of years later, the still single mother Elizabeth Pyne married an older Nicholas Morshead and they had one daughter named Jane Morshead. Jane Morshead name would become a 'nickname' name 'Jenny Morshead' likely to distinguish her from anut Jane Morshead etc. Fast forward to when the two sisters who lived with the married Nicholas Morshead and Elizabeth Pyne as one family. Mary Pyne married Samuel Snell of Menheniot where one of the 'higher social' Morshead relative families had also gone to live. As for now 'Jenny Morshead' she married Edward Moon and they named their first son 'Nicholas' Moon after Jenny's father Nicholas Moreshead. Both sisters and their husbands had a number of children. Grandmother Elizabeth Morshead who out lived her husband Nicholas Morshead by about 20 years, played favorites with the grandchildren who where named after 'family' names as evidence by her will. Grandson Nicholas Moon got more that all the other Moon children and Mary Snell and Denzil Snell named after family members, her father Denzil Pyne and her daughter Mary Pyne and perhaps even her grandmother another Mary Pyne, and they both received more than all the other Snell children. To make this long story short you'll have to watch the 'movie' so to speak and to make it longer you'll have to go to all the source material and documents available to fully appreciate and put it all together yourself.

One great final statement here is now my Morshead family line goes back 7 generations where only a half of a generation existed before and those older Morshead ancestors are members of the Landed Gentry Peerage crew. Not bad for the transcription of one 5 legal page will written out in quite small longhand and a day's work on OPC and what I had on my Moon family before. What a difference 24 hours can make!
