SNELL FAMILY COUSINS CONNECTED THROUGH THE MORSHEAD AND MOON RELATIONSHIP - Mary Pyne, the
daughter of Elizabeth Pyne married Samuel Snell. Elizabeth Pyne was the daughter of Denzill Pyne.
After she gave birth to her daughter Mary Pyne, whose father is unknown, Elizabeth Pyne married
Nicholas Moorshead, the brother of William Moorshead. It is the will of Elizabeth
Moorhead nee Pyne that ties these families together in addition to the family trees further so
constructd and related. The initial SNELL family of this kinsman marriages will be first given between
Samuell Snell and Mary Pyne, daughter of Elizabeth Pyne and then Samuel Snell's first marriage to
Elizabeth Geach.
Elizabeth Morshead nee Pyne, in her will of 1782-1783 names children from both of Samuell Snell's
marriages. She first gives to two children of her daughter Mary Snell nee Pyne, of Denzil Snell,
6 pounds, and Mary Snell, 50 pounds. And then also to every other of the Children of her daughter
Mary Snell the Several Sums of 3 Pounds and 3 shillings a piece. Denzil Pyne was the father
of Elizabeth Morshead nee Pyne and her daughter was Mary Pyne, father unknown, did name one of her
sons after her grandfather Denzil Pyne.
Later in her will, Elizabeth Morshead nee Pyne gives unto Elizabeth Little nee Snell (wife of Thomas
Little) and unto Catherine Snell, Daughters of her Son in law Samuel Snell, 5 shillings a piece. The
distinction here is that this Elizabeth and Catherine were daughters of her son in law by his first
marriage to Elizabeth Geach. And thus they were names separate and appart from the children of Mary
Snell nee Pyne and Samuel Snell who would be her blood grandchildren. This is set out in the to
simple family pedigrees given below.
