* It is generally the common understanding that when a will states such as "Thomas Hender of the Parish of Altarnun" it is but stating whence the person was born and/or christened. Case in point is the will of my 3rd great grandfather, William Hender the watch and clockmaker. His states that he was "William Hender of the Parish of Altarnun" which was the parish of his birth/christening, though it is well confirmed that he was the Watch and Clockmaker who operated business in Callington and that his will also sets his present residence as Verterdon, in the parish of Stokeclimsland by the statement, 'that his then dwelling houses and property were situate at Venterdon.
