UNLOCKING THE SCRIPTURESP R E F A C E | VISION OF ALLPART IV | COME UNTO THE VISION OF ALL PART V | KEY TO YOUR SCRIPTURE STUDY PART VII | THE FATHERS' PLAN ~ VISION OF ALL PART VIII | REFLECTIONS ON THE VISION OF ALL
A very unique feature of how the Book of Mormon and the Bible, as well as all other scripture comes together to fit as 'one' is learned from the pages of the Book of Mormon. The concept that all major prophets may actually work from the same visionary experience, and that from the VISION OF ALL, is explored here in this series. Nephi may will be the first of the prophets to see this relationship between the prophets in scripture. After his father Lehi had his 'Tree of Life' vision, Nephi prayed to the Lord and was given that same visionary experience. During Nephi's experience he learned that the vision extended into what was a vision of 'life' or a vision of the whole of life. He learned in it that it that what he saw was also that which John the Revelator would see, and Nephi was restricted from giving a record of that part of the vision. Nephi's vision also over lapped into what Isaiah had seen and recorded. Thus Isaiah must have seen that same vision as well. This gave Nephi an affinity for Isaiah's writings, which were plain unto Nephi for he had 'seen the vision' from whence they were written. Having this understanding, Nephi wrote that 'many had seen these things and written them'. Nephi at that point would not have been aware that the brother of Jared had seen the whole of the VISION OF ALL, and Mahonri Moriancumr was assigned to write a record of the whole of the vision. From this perspective, it has come to be understood that many of the prophets have seen 'the vision' or parts of it, and have written according to the commandment of the Lord from that vision. This is the basis of this series on the VISION OF ALL. |
