Lanivet Hender Families
Compiled and Annotated by Don R. Hender
A number of Hender families trace their
beginnings back to Lanivet as the Hender family which was established there
did move to other parishes and on out to other places. The Hender family of
Lanivet seemed to be well established as the two wills of the 'parenting'
husband and wife, John and Joan Hender seem to present. John's will in
particular speaks of an Estate and also a number of Tenements in another
parish which he passes on to a number of his grand children. Thus the
'Lanivet' Hender pedigree will begin with this John and Joan which will also
provide links to their two transcribed wills provided for the interested
browser's study. I do-do the best I can at my transcriptions and though I
most likely make a number of errors, I feel that for genealogy research
they are adequate. The mape at the left has a number of sites underlined in
a thin bright pink/purple color. As you study that map you will find Lanivet,
Bodwannick, Bodmin, Burlorne or Burlone, Egloshayle or Egloshaile, St. Breock
and Bodmin so underlined. These sites are of particular interest to the
Hender families of Lanivet as you study their wills and history. Though the
three tenements in Burlone or Burlorne are in the parish borders of
Egloshayle, it is of some interest to note their closeness to Bodmin, which
is nearer to them than the 'city' of Egloshayle. And Bodwannick is where the
main Hender estate was located. Some may question the connection between John
Hender of Lanivet and Joan Badcock of St. Breock and if this is really the
Joan who John married. I too did question the marriage until I came across
this concerning the properties
and Estate at Bodwannick.

Now just because it is in 'print' or has been published on the internet
it does NOT have to be so. Either the LDS Ancestrial files transcription
clerk erred or the submitter did. This Ann Hender, christened in St. Cleer
in 1803, just cannot be a member of this family unless you believe in such as
parallel universes and millenniums. This John Hender of Lanivet/Helland died
1777 and his wife Joan died 1779 and unless my mathematics are wrong they were
dead and buried over twenty years before this Ann Hender.
To see who this Ann Hender really is go to my
St. Cleer page and look for her as a member of the
family of John Hender and Joan Trenowth there.

** Cross check with Joan Badcock CB 3 Jan 1708, Egloshayle, daughter of
Roger Badcock and Catherine Martyn.
The will of this above John Hender of Lanivet does name two sons, Thomas
and John. Thomas has left to somewhere and is presumed dead and John remains
at home. And there just isn't any mention at all of any daughter named Ann.
And the will of Joan Hender references her son John Hender and grandchildren.
But lets get on with it to the next generation with their names colored
yellow if they were in the wills of John and/or Joan Hender linked above.
