The Portals of Time and Eternity
A Perspective of the Everlasting Covenant
Part XI

prepared by Don R. Hender

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." ~ Revelation 22:13

Cut from the fabric of Eternity are the Ages of Time to be found. From Eternity into and back out of these Ages of Time there are passageways, guarded portals of entance and exit. Eternity stands on one side of these portals and the ages of time stand on the other. It is as it is depicted in the sealing rooms of the LDS temples of God. There are found endless reflection mirrors mounted on two opposite walls of the room, which reflect each other's image on into an endless avenue of perceptive vision. They are a representation of eternity past and yet to come with the sealing room standing in between them as the here and now of the ages of time we are in.

As the Gospel teaches, there is but one who stands at the entrance and exit from all eternity, to all eternity. And he is Jesus Christ, the one and only way so provided by which man may pass. It is he, Jesus Christ-Jehovah, who is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. He is the Guardian of the passageways of the ages of time. And all those who enter in and depart from do so by him and are of his generation.

The portal passage through the test of time is a guarded passage. Lucifer and his angels will never be let in, nor will they ever advance into the Celestial realm as those of us who may pass through the test of the ages of time to gain our reward and advance according to God Eternal Plan. A reflection upon the two all encompassing extents of our Lord and Savior's service to man and to God the Father may be here understood. Only those who pertain unto this present realm of the ages of time may minister unto them (D&C 130:5). The Firstborn spirit son Jehovah, born in the spirit to Elohim, was the rightful heir upon whom the weight of the responsibility did fall. As one of us, God the Father's spirit children, Jehovah the firstborn could be called upon to stand in the stead of the Father to Minister unto those of these realms of time as he too would pass through them with us. Thus the Father, Elohim, did select Jehovah His son to stand in that position of the 'Deliverer' of mankind from Eternity to all Eternity through the ages of time. Jehovah was the First, the chosen and the anointed one of the Father. And the Father endowed him with all the fulness and power of God that he Jehovah might stand in the stead of the Celestial Father and minister unto man from the foundation of the temporal creation to the end and final judgement thereof, that what Jehovah would so create under the direction of the Father, he, Jehovah would redeem, that is have to power to do so. And of course that work and purpose unto which Jevhovah was called and ordained and consecrated was and is that grand 'work and glory' of God, which is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man according to the design of the Plan of God (Moses 1:39).

And this was to the end cause and purpose that we as God's spirit children might grow, successfuly maturate in the proper use and actions of selecting good over evil according to that agency given us by God the Father to test us if we will do all that God commands us to do, and thus we may advance and be enabled and blessed to become even as God is, one with him and Christ Jehovah. That is if we will accept God's way, take the Lord's name upon us and live the Godly life according to what God through Jesus Christ (Jehovah) our Lord doth command and direct us that we must do. And Christ is the only way and means whereby given by God the Father that man might come unto Him. As the Lord has said and the scriptures do state:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." ~ John 14:6

" . . . there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent. . . . men drink damnation to their own souls except they humble themselves and become as little children, and believe that salvation was, and is, and is to come, in and through the atoning blood of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent. For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yeilds to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father. And moreover, I say unto you, that the time shall come when the knowledge of a Savior shall spread throughout ever nation, kindred, tongue, and people." ~ Mosiah 3:17-20

NO OTHER WAY

We may rest assured and stand confident in our trust and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. His is of that same love of the Father for the children of man (John 3:16). He cares only for and serves only the interest of those he has been positioned by the Father to redeem. Unlike the self interest which Lucifer did pursue, Jehovah's only interest and concern is his duty to God and man, and the glory he does not claim for himself but returns it unto the Father (Moses 4:2). He has taken upon himself the sins of the world that he might redeem those of this world according to the design and stipulations set forth by the Father. He and the Father are unified in that love offered unto the children of men. 'Come follow me,' the Savior doth say, 'that I might lead you in the way.' The path is strait and will be long, but man and God he will work to reconcile that man might unite with God and come home again. In short his interest is in our best interests.

"O then, my beloved brethren, come unto the Lord, the Holy One. Remember that his paths are righteous. Behold, the way for man is narrow, but it lieth in a straight course before him, and the keeper of the gate is the Holy One of Israel; and he employeth no servant there; and there is none other way save it be by the gate; for he connot be deceived, for the Lord God is his name." ~ 2 Nephi 9:41

In explaining this position which Jesus who is Jehovah holds as the 'Ministering God', Advocate, Mediator, and Intercessor between man and God the Father of Spirits, even Elohim; Alma the younger sets for to his son Corianton that Jesus is the only means and way. Corianton was not a perfect soul and indeed in need of Jesus' offering of atoning help. Jesus knew that he came into the world to be the Savior and Redeemer of sinners, all those who would humble themselves and come unto him to be redeemed through repentance, the Gospel ordinances and the good works of a Godly life. Jesus knows and understands that none are without sin and all stand in need of his redemptive powers unto salvation. His hope and desire is that all will come unto him, that they will all so humble themselves and repent, that they might be made whole in and through him. No man can be saved of himself. All must come and rely upon the love, mercy and justice of God offered through Jesus Christ our Lord.

"And now, my son, I have told you this that ye may learn wisdom, that ye may learn of me that there is no other way or means whereby man can be saved, only in and through Christ. Behold, he is the life and the light of the world. Behold, he is the word of truth and righteousness." ~ Alma 38:9
